On the other hand, I had a pastor - in his pre Christian life played rock&roll. After being saved - he put up his guitar. After a while - (i forget how long) - he pulled it out - and would sing - Christian music - with his guitar. On of his favorites was On a Hill called Mt Calvary . Excllecent music ministry.- but I would guess it was not.

And I said, I am not advocating drums in church. You don't like them, fine.

The OP seems to have much more than a preference for not having them. He believes it demonic. He believes the inanimate can be evil.

You have called it rebellion. I just don't understand.
My church for awhile had 4 different worship leaders, and one had Sunday church hymnals, another Contemporary, another classic, and last Sunday was Youth take over, so Christian rock. Pastors just stated if you have a preference and conviction, just show up at the style you like, and let others same to style they like , and do not bad mouth and grumble if some are enjoying what you do not

Still think some of the greatest Gospel singing ever heard was from Elvis

He doesn't have to stop singing and playing a guitar because he made his heart right with God.

If his heart is right with God, He will use it to His glory.

One of my uncles was one of the best Christians I've ever known, He inspired me to study the Scripture early in my life.

He would pick up his guitar and start singing hymns in a heartbeat, and was good at it.

I don't want anyone angry with me and I know this is a touchy subject and I say to each to his own.

But while we're on the subject, let me say something I hope no one will take offensive.

Back in the mid to late 50's rock and roll started and really came on the scene in the 60's/70's.

The Church went into a frenzy over that beat, and the drums, they were calling it a device of Satan.

Now it's the norm in the Church and no one is saying anything.
Just think would be very interesting to have someone like Alice Cooper lead a worship service in a Baptist Church, as His father was a Baptist pastor, and Grandfather Baptist Missionary/Evangelist, just try ti image him in full get up leading worship

The Lord would have made room for him if he had chosen that path.

he has been saved over 30 years now, and he had a big missionary outreach into famous musicians and celebrities , and he and his wife are sponsering in Az a big outreach to youth, as trying to get them out of gangs and turned unto Jesus

Think many around him have stated that he near end of his like really regreated not being a singing evangelist for the Lord Jesus, as he wondered if he had misused his talents and calling

I heard those closest around him say that he was a troubled soul. I hope in the end he made it right.

His biggest problem was got too famous way too quick, and had all "yes men" around him, not much Christian influences, as really need some to correct him

Well that shows you how much I know about Alice Cooper.

I would have never even given that a chance.

Elvis is one of the very few rock and rollers that I really liked.

I was watching a video of him some time back when a woman was holding a sign that said "The King," he stopped and told her he was not The King, that was Jesus Christ.
