ALL CAPS was being sarcastic as some on here have indicated that God only speaks to us through His Word. As such, those of use who believe otherwise could fit right in with the UFO hunters. Well, so be it.

I happen to disagree with them and consider them very narrow minded. As if they, and they alone have an inside track to the Throne Room of our Lord and the rest of us should in awe. It's sad.

All caps is associated with yelling not sarcasm so again I took your words yelling as they were preceved at face value.
I don't understand how you can think that the saying the Bible is how God communicates with man is having an inside track that should make others stand in aw. Do you not have access to a Bible? If so I can direct you to some websites where you can read it in many different translations.

Got'cha b-wife 318. Needless to say I am impressed with your ability to discern my intent the result of your "perception". No, I'm not being sarcastic here. What would be wrong with just saying, "Sorry, I misunderstood your comment?"

Some people take things the way the want to because well....that is how they want you to be perceived. to be fair to that poster all caps is typically understood to be yelling. However, when you explained yourself that explanation should be excepted with grace. In the future just know that people will more often understand all caps to be yelling unless otherwise explained.

If one doesn't expect to hear from God, why do they pray?

You would have to define what you mean by 'hear' in context to prayer.

For instance my wife and I and several others have prayed for a long while concerning some situation in our lives. Part of the answer came yesterday, as He, in fact, answered our prayer. Thus we heard from God. We also have some other parts not yet fulfilled to completion in this request, yet we fully expect to hear from God when He answers that portion.

This would be exactly my question as well. I'm not sure how the bible will answer my personal questions regarding conflicts and situations in my life, or what course of action to take next.

If a situation comes to pass and you get your answer in the unfolding of life, I don't see that as God speaking to you, I just see that as his will unfolding.

But I am talking about praying to God and asking for an answer. In the silence after prayer, has not an answer just softly emerged into your consciousness?

According to the bible the heart is more deceitful than the eyes or ears.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Then why Romans 10:9, 10 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

?

I don't claim to know the Bible at all and get very confused by how passages can be taken out of context or at times can be applied to seemingly contradictory arguments.

@Revmitchell, to begin with I don't even know why I am responding to the mess. Please understand that I am 70 years old and fully and completely understand that usually, using ALL CAPS is an indication of "yelling" but, just because "another" thinks it doesn't make it so.

So, let me ask this. If I were desiring to make a "PROCLAMATION" how would I do that? What punctuation would I rely upon to get my point across? Underlining, bold with ALL CAPS? Or, should one provide a "side bar definition" such as, (...by using ALL CAPS it refers to me making a public announcement) To me, some on here who are of the opinion that God ONLY speaks to His children through His written Word is absolute rubbish. So, I reflected "their PROCLAMATION.

...pretty stupid, huh? Well, with all due respect to blessedwife318 she just jumped in (as we all have done) not understanding my intent. So, she assumed which was in error and I was setting the record straight. .

I thought of this the other day as I was praying for an answer for a certain situation. I know that God absolutely speaks to us and He will do it in different ways, every single time will be consistent with Scriputre. I just can't deny what I've had happen in my prayer time. It's not often (I think it has been only a few times - three that I can think of right now) and it's always been Biblical, although the answer I got when I was trying to have another baby was pretty specific and not directly from Scripture - and for sure it came to pass. :) That promised child just turned 15 and my bonus will be 13 next month.

Some people are looking to be offended and will not hear any other explanation. Usually if I want to emphasize something I just make it bold or underline. Sometimes I might color the font.

I know what he said and I find it tragic. But its what I have come to expect from the modern day church. Sola Scriptura is so 16th century we want something new and exciting an inside track to God if you will. <sarcasm>

Then your behavior is tragic. Because in post 131 you misrepresented what he said. I am sure this will be further fodder for you to go over to the dog house and start another ridiculing thread. Shame on you.

If standing up for Sola Scriptura is shameful I will gladly take it. :) If standing up for Sola Scriptura is tragic then so be it. :)

Your post was not standing up for sola scriptura. Your post misrepresented (intentionally) what he said. If you do not have the ability to defend your doctrine without misrepresenting (intentionally) what others say then your doctrine is weak and your debating abilities are weaker.

You owe him a correct of your earlier post.

See folks this behavior is exactly why there is so much discord on this board. It is a prime example. It is sinful and should not be accepted. And those who support such behavior are in the same boat.

Another attack by you.
She has posted consistently and it is you who once again judge her motives.
