Clearly there is much bias in all of this, and Quora is no authority and even has conflicting info. Asking the question is not itself wrong, but rather the reasons for singling him out.
Most clearly, some just hate Trump, even feel they have that right. Defending Trump's wrongs is not the point, but rather that those who oppose him tend to serve far worse entities that couldn't care less how much it hurts the country, as they hate the USA as well.

Hate is a strong word and people who use it as a weapon against another are clearly beaten people with no recourse. And then to claim they hate the USA it just pitiful and weak.

Maybe it's our fault for having too high of expectations. Mat tis was going to be the guy that reversed all of the garbage from the last 8 years: enlisting transgenders, letting women in combat arms, & etc. But, we got a couple months worth of funny memes, and that was it.
He was hyped as the best, and ended up as nothing special, average. I wish it wasn't so, but have to face the facts.
My money was on Robert Gates but I’m an old guy. We could have all predicted that Jim Mattis would not make it in this in particular administration. He is a leader with over 40 years experience but these days that doesn’t count. He is a dinosaur who is in the book writing phase of life. And that’s good, I personally enjoy military books with strategy and verve (Clausewitz, Hannibal campaigns, Will Durant’s ‘The Story of Civilization’ Etc)
