Bingo! It is not a sin that sends us to eternal destruction, it is the righteousness of Christ that gives us immortality and eternal life.
I am beginning to question the entire doctrine of unending suffering as eternal punishment. It seems the Bible teaches death and destruction for those who reject Christ. How can a lost man suffer endlessly forever if he is not immortal? Immortality is a gift from God through Christ alone.
Rom 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
2Ti 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
Only God has immortality:
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
So when does the lost man put on his immortality?
What does “perish” mean?
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Does “perish” mean to exist forever? Isn’t that everlasting life?
What does “destroy” mean?
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Does destroy mean never being destroyed?
Why was Adam never warned of this unending torture? He was simply told he would die and return to dust.
