Tim thanks for your clarification and I would agree that we all do what you have suggested. But in the final analysis there is one correct set of glasses to see Scripture through and then there are all the rest of the man-colored glasses.

And of course we all think we have on the right pair .

I don't know that I would say it is impossible3 to forget everything we have already learned in the sense that we can not overcome. Of course we never "forget" it, but I think we can approach Scripture in an objective manner so as to change what we believe should Scripture dictate a change.

I've had to change a lot of what I grew up believing, but then again a lot of what I grew up believing was still true as well.

But you are correct in that it is hard for us not to eventually talk about the kingdom in almost every topic, again because the coming seventh day of rest is the climax of Scripture. It's what all of Scripture is pointing to. We have very little detail about what happens in eternity and I believe that is for a reason. Our focus is to be on the King and His coming Kingdom and making sure that we have a part with Him.

this thread is not about proving you're saved. It's about the relationship, if any, between sins and the time spend paying for those sins (forever).

The children of Israel that sinned after the blood of the lamb covered their door post in Egypt which is a (type of the blood of Christ) were punished with death not torment in Hell forever.

Notice Bro Bob that sexual immorality was listed in 1 Cor10 maybe this passage would help you see the that while these Israelites had spiritual life verse1-4 they still could walk after the flesh and be punished with physical death and RE or rest exculsion shown in Hebrews. If the "types" or "examples" were studied I think salvation would be a little easier to understand.

Depending on how you view Israels salvation is going to effect your doctrine on how one might spend time paying for those sins.Do you think the whole nation of Israel was saved? If their not saved the scripture tells us their payment for sin is simply death and exculsion.If they are saved the scripture tells us that their payment is death and exclusion.I'm not so prideful to think I might change you opinion but I am interest in how would explain yourself as I'm sure in the course of sharing the gospel of the kingdom I will come across some with a similar opinion and I want to be able to understand them as well as minister to them.

They also want believers who have escaped bondage to go back into bondage again. Our freedom drives them crazy with jealousy. I often wonder if they're haunted by their own lusts. They're so angry that someone might be able to do what they want to do, and get away with it, that they think the solution is to threaten everyone else with 1,000 years of hell.

Even if that is not true for all ME folks, ME folks seem to think that if you don't threaten Christians with 1,000 years in hell, the only possible outcome will be that Christians will live a life of total licentiousness, running around commiting adultery and killing people for fun while doing drugs, etc. The idea that we are motivated by God's love, not fear of punishment, is foreign to them. Now THAT is sad.

Jesus said that unless our righteousness exceed the righteousness of the Pharasees---we will in no way enter the kingdom

Well---there is but one righteousness that exceeds theirs---HIS!!! Amen?? And His becomes mine when I receive Him by faith---and take Him at His word!!!

God also thought it was important to threaten saved peole with the threat of gehanna for certain actions.

Read the lists of sins in Galatians and elsewhere that will get you excluded from entering the coming Kingdom.

We can never achieve the righteousness that God requires. We have to put on the righteousness of Christ through faith in order to be with Him when we die. If we end up in hell, it will be because we thought we were righteous without Him.
