I lock my doors to my home at night and when I am gone. I lock the doors to my vehicle when I am not with it. We lock the doors to the church. I buy insurance in case of an accident on my home, truck, and church. I have security systems. I own and carry a gun. Theses things are not done because I live in fear. Such accusations are flaming comments to belittle those with whom they disagree with. Further, it shows a lack of support for their own position. These things are done because of intelligent thoughtful processes. Even the disciples carried swords. Self-defense is not contrary to the Christian faith. Failure to take steps to protect ourselves is a failure to use the reason God gave us.

It appears that Austin does none of those things - as God will protect him

Do any of the choices Rev suggested act as a tool to kill another human being?
The amount of straw men being created is impressive.

That's NOT the question - You said that God will protect you! If that is you belief - than you need nothing Rev M has!

Good grief do you even know what a strawman is? I did not create an argument and then apply it to you as if you made it so I can refute it. I used simple logic and reason of comparison. If you dont know the difference between the two you should stop using that word. It looks foolish

Agree Rev. Someone on here just likes twisting things. He probably goes to the Doctor. I am sure he believes God uses Doctors but not guns.

Yet, the article in the OP confirms that guns are rarely if ever needed. Still people persist.

The outcry against the government removing your guns is similar to the outcry of Israel when being asked to give up their idols.

For many "gun toting" Christians their guns are a idol in which they put their trust.

LOL, you created scenarios like a Pharisee grilling Jesus and now you complain. That's funny.

An article said guns are rarely used. I have seen them used a lot. Guess you worship idols because you put your faith in medicine and not God.

What is funny, in a badd kind a way, is that the admins are so ineffective at keeping the trolls out.
It's funny how the radical conservative right complains whenever someone who uses reason and biblical text against them. They resort to whining that their voice is not the only voice at the BB.
Reynolds do you have even a shred of biblical support for common citizens to be using guns to confront another person?

This OP is NOT about what the Bible says about defense
if you want - start a new thread

The OP of this thread is:
How often are firearms used as a defense?

What is the sole function of a gun?
To kill something God created.
The article provided by the OP and quoted by myself points to the fact that guns rarely are used for self defense. Law enforcement is given license to use by God's authority. No one else needs a gun.
Then by all means don't carry one. Also, you should put a sign in the window of your home that it is a gun free zone. This way those that 'visit' you will know that guns are not welcome. It would also let any would be robber know that you don't believe anyone needs a gun but those in law enforcement.

God directly protected israel. but did he not command them to fight the inhabitants of the promised Land, He did not just mow them down himself?

Was that a government (theocracy) action to accomplish this task or did individuals just decide to do it themselves?

Let me remind you what happened when Israel decided to attack after God banished them to 40 years of wandering. The people of Israel were soundly defeated.

Taking power into our own hands is not a wise thing.

Read Proverbs 2 so you grasp wisdom.
I have never owned a gun. I shot a .22 rifle once for gun safety class, but it was boring and I never cared to hunt.

I simply don't live in fear and have no need to have a gun even though I live in a large metro area. My neighbors and I watch out for one another and our police force is responsive. I had someone rummage in my cars last week, but we don't keep anything of value in our cars so no worries. It was jus juvies.

If God took everything from us would we still worship him? Would we still have joy?
My answer is, yes. God has graciously saved me when I was a dead man walking. With the gift of eternal life what can ever take my joy of eternity with the King?

For me, there is just no reason to carry a gun. It's a worthless tool for me.

So...then you won't advertise your home as a gun free zone then...So I guess you want robbers to think you may have a gun. So you are using the 2nd A in a secondary way. Got it.

Also, since you are under God's protection you obviously refused the Covid shots.
