No one has answered my questions--Would you shoot a looter for taking your microwave? Your bicycle? A TV?
Perhaps because there is insufficient information for a meaningful answer.

In fact it sounds rather like a "gotcha" question.

What are the circumstances? Is it day or night? Is the intruder armed or not? Is he alone or are there others?

Where was your microwave or bicycle located. Or your TV? In your home or in your garage? Or outside?

Wouldn't it be prudent to try to assess whether or not the intruder is a deadly threat before killing them for being inside your house?

I have a family to protect. If the looter is inside my house and my family is there, he dies. End of story.

Yeah, I get that that breaks your little snowflake heart, but my family's safety comes before your little progressive sensibilities.

Also, I would not want the memory of shooting a person in my home to follow me around the rest of my life.

I would much rather have the memory of shooting somebody than the memory of watching my wife or children harmed.

Good to see you would analyze the circumstances. Other members here would not.

Over here you would be on a murder charge,

I see a lot of hate on this thread, very unchristian.

In our church we sometimes have preachers representing MERF, Middle East Reformed Fellowship. This was founded by a Syrian and an Egyptian pastor. They are focusing on spreading the gospel throughout the middle east and beyond. They report that many Muslims are turning to Christ because they see the hate in their own religion, and the love that Christians show to them.

I don't see the hate on this thread will turn anyone to Christ.

Good reason not to live over there. Especially since the UK has a violent crime rate 5 times higher than the US.

You must be joking. I can walk down the street without fear, and without gun s on the street Housebreakings are rare, except for big out of town houses and farms where machinery is targeted. Most violence is domestic or between drug dealers and users. Gun crime is mostly between gangs in larger cities.

No, but I was wrong. It is not 5 times. It is 8 times higher in England than in the US.

US FBI Crime Statistics Report, 2016: 1.2 million violent crimes committed in the US.

According to the UK Office for National Statistics, there were 1.94 million violent crimes in the UK during the same time period.

There are almost exactly five times as many people in the US as in the UK – 314 million vs. 63 million. The violent crime rate in the UK is 3,100 per 100,000, and in the US it is 380 per 100,000 population.

Brits are eight times more likely to be victims of violent crime than Americans.

Where has there been any hate on this thread? Please point it out to me. Give me the post # and I will take action.

Post 102 for instance.

I would think that is nonsense

Although I will admit there is more violent crime these days but it seems most victims are known to their attackers.
