Indication of, "if it happens to me, I would shoot them." Course of action already chosen.
I have an NRA sticker on my front door. I put it there for a reason. I pray nobody ever tests me.
What's wrong with pointing the gun at someone and in a firm voice tell them to leave your house? I don't understand this shoot first mentality.

I've always said to myself that I would ask whoever it was I found in my house to say my name. I'd also like to think I could hold him until the cops got here but that might take a while. Like I said. I pray it never happens.

These guys would ridiculously call that "eager" to shoot someone.
Safety engaged and trigger discipline being observed, right?
That's a good way for an amateur to get killed. But that's the way you should play it if you feel that way. I might even do the same thing, not likely but...
I have trained and drilled my wife with the shoot first reaction. Her 9MM holds 17 rounds and I have told her repeatedly that should not stop pullng the trigger until the assailant stops moving or she runs out of cartridges. If the situation occurs when I'm not there, or am unable to respond, I pray she does exactly that.
But condemning others because they would react differently than you intend to react to a hostile intruder in their homes is ridiculously naive and judgemental.

Yes. My course of action has already been chosen. In fact I train regularly on response to a deadly threat.
If I or a loved one is threatened with deadly force I will act, and use whatever force is necessary to stop the threat.
I don't know anyone in their right mind who wouldn't, if they were able.
Good way to get killed. Try to talk a criminal who is a deadly threat into not killing you and just walking out.
That is pure Hollywood. If a person poses a deadly threat, you use whatever level of force necessary to stop the threat.
Because if you shoot last you are already dead.

No, I would just call that prudent. Curtis is using the sticker as a deterrent.
In some areas (rural, where sheriff response time is long), I think that may be a good idea. In others, it may be advertising to a burglar which House has the goodies.
Same with those big white automotive window 'Smith & Wesson' and Cold Dead Hands/Pro Second Amendment stickers. In some places, that is asking for bad guys to follow you home to find out where you live.
There might be another one or two waiting to ambush you while you are distracted with that one.
In all my years of law enforcement I never worked a home invasion in which the perp knew the victim was armed.

Well, yes, if you know the looter has a weapon that changes everything.
You would be correct. I would like to think that looters are not armed and would gladly move on to another house if threatened with deadly force. Also, I would not want the memory of shooting a person in my home to follow me around the rest of my life.
