I don't see any signs of "eagerness", except in your comment. An eagerness to condemn what's not there.

Yep, nothing to see here:

Same here. I'd shoot them. Just hope I can decide fast enough which gun I should choose.

Good. Then hang the bodies outside for the other looters to see.

"The suspect reportedly lived through the injury."

The homeowners only mistake.

Yep.

Everybody thinks they know how they'll react to a given situation. My experience has shown me otherwise.

A gun is a tool, not a toy. Use it if you have to but I'm not impressed with the bluster I've seen in here.

Agree.

We call them "Closet Commandos."

I don't care what you call them, they keep the looters at bay.

Exactly. Being ready and willing to repel a home invader is hardly the same thing as being "eager" for it to happen.

The choice of words by our friend was intentional and for dramatic effect. Just a way to demean those that would defend themselves, while he would do the same, if the need arose.

There is no sign or "eagerness" for that type of conflict in anyone's post.

Just a simple warning. Which firearm to use is an important decision for many reasons.

Why in the world would you not already know which weapon?

It you are thinking about it like picking a golf club then you are in over your head.

It seems to me, after reading the posts referenced in post #41, that all of the activities, except choosing the proper firearm for home defense (*), were after the fact. That does not, in my mind, indicate an eagerness to shoot anyone.

I have the privilege of living in Texas which has a very strong castle doctrine law on the books. A home invader is assumed to be a deadly threat to the home owner and deadly force is legal in such a situation.

I can't believe so many on this forum are siding with the thieves who prey on the elderly, infirm, and those who were forced to flee a natural disaster.

(*) Selecting the proper firearm for home defense is a very important choice. I, personally, use a Remington 870 12 gauge pump shotgun with an 18 inch barrel. It is loaded with #4 shot, followed by #00, follow by a slug, then the sequence is repeated. The reason is, the #4 shot, and probably the #00, will not penetrate an interior or exterior wall, which could, potentially injure someone not involved in the crime.

The above would be much safer than firing any of my 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 cal, or .45 cal. pistols/carbines. All of which will penetrate an interior and probably an exterior wall.

Yes. You are prepared and already know which weapon is ready for such an occasion. You aren't staring at your gun safe pondering this while someone is trying to breach the door.

Also, suggesting that people are siding with criminals is blatantly untrue. Displaying bodies, drinking blood doesn't seem normal to me. Your mileage may vary.

Who advocated drinking blood?
