A Harrison County emergency official estimated 50 people were dead in coastal Mississippi on Monday night after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast, and hinted that as officials surveyed the damage, the number of deaths could climb.

If only the U.S. didn't pressure Israel into giving up her land. How tragic. Gen. 12

I'm waiting to see what countries are going to help us....look at all the money the U.S. gave to the Tsunami victims and to Africa etc., just something to dwell on.

According to the latest polling data in Israel, the majority of Israelis supported the Gaza Pullout, and support further pullouts. I support Israel, and so should you.

The prediction came amid more polling evidence that Mr Netanyahu outstrips Mr Sharon among Likud members - a majority of whom opposed disengagement in a party referendum in May last year - while Mr Sharon is far more popular than his rival among the Israeli electorate at large.
The poll in yesterday's Yedioth Ahronot showed that, among registered Likud members, Mr Netanyahu is the preferred leader of 42 per cent over Mr Sharon at 35 per cent. Most estimates assume that Mr Netanyahu currently scores even higher among the activists on the Likud Central Committee who will choose the leader.

But when all voters are asked whom they prefer as Prime Minister, 24 per cent said Mr Sharon with only 16 per cent opting for Mr Netanyahu. Public rejection of Mr Netanyahu's unashamed pitch to the hard-right is further underlined by a finding that, in the absence of Mr Sharon, the voters would prefer the octogenarian Labour leader Shimon Peres as Prime Minister to Mr Netanyahu. The poll also shows a clear majority of Israelis - 54 per cent - favour further dismantling of settlements in the occupied West Bank, compared with 42 per cent who do not.

1. We probably won't get much help from them. But, then again, we probably don't really need their help since God has blessed us with living in the richest nation in the world, even though we did "pressure" Israel to go through with the Gaza pullout that the majority of Israelis supported...do you see how little logic there is in your arguments.

2. Whereas we don't need their help, they most certainly needed ours, and we responded to them because that is the kind of people we are: We do the right thing most of the time because it is the right thing to do...not because we expect something in return. That is part of what makes America great.

We don't need their foreign aid. We will rebuild all by ourselves. Shelves across America's disaster relief centers are allready full, volunteers are on their way, and money, food & water will pour into that area. This is a major disaster, no doubt. But we will get thru it.

Anyone heard from Tater Tot ?

Break in 17th Street Canal Levee is now 200 feet wide and slowly flooding the City of New Orleans. Huge sand bags are being airlifted to try to stem the rush of water in that area.

The Sun Herald is setting up an "I'm OK Line" for people who left the area to phone in and let their relatives know where they evacuated to.

It's a toll free number and the information will be printed in the paper and posted online. You can call (866) 453-1925.

Go to http://eyesonkatrina.blogspot.com/ or The Sun Herald at www.sunherald.com

The Sun Herald is also posting lists of damage in the small towns in Mississippi like Pass Christian and Pascagula.

It is sickening to me to think that people would loot from other people and stores at a time like this....you have to be a pretty low form of life to participate in such a thing.

I have been praying for everyone down there and I hope we hear something from Tater soon.

T-P EVACUATING
Tuesday, 9:40 a.m.

The Times-Picayune is evacuating it's New Orleans building.

Water continues to rise around our building, as it is throughout the region. We want to evaucate our employees and families while we are still able to safely leave our building.

Our plan is to head across the Mississippi River on the Pontchartrain Expressway to the west bank of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish. From there, we'll try to head to Houma.

Our plan, obviously, is to resume providing news to our readers ASAP. Please refer back to this site for continuing information as soon as we are able to provide it.

New Orleans, LA (CBS) - Martial Law has been declared in parts of New Orleans as conditions continued to deteriorate. Water levels in The Big Easy and it's suburbs are rising at dangerous levels and officials stated they don't know where the water is coming from. Residents are being urged to get out of New Orleans in any way they can as officials fear "life will be unsustainable" for days or even weeks.
