I am saying that if we remarry and THEN divorce again, per God requiring us to do that in order to repent, are we not causing God to be advocating more sinning?
No, because divorce does not exists. You are only breaking off an adulterous relationship.

Are you holding to then the same view as dave1689 that 2 Christians who divorced and then remarried must show real repentance by divorcing each other?

Hi all,

I'm thinking at this point that we have pretty much expressed our thoughts on this subject and some of the conversation is now between people who are not about to change their minds (for various reasons of which I am not the judge). This is a very controversial subject and one that affects the emotions as greatly as about any subject that I can think of. God says that we should be "fully persuaded in our own minds" regarding what God says about things. Perhaps the most important distinguishing feature about Baptists is that they are to consider that God's Word is to be the final judge on all doctrinal matters. We can disagree on issues and I believe that when we hold to something we should have Bible to back it up. I respect the right of all of us to hold to our own sincere convictions regarding what the scripture says and we are all free to make our own judgements as we sincerely seek to please God. I suggest at this point that we determine if specific conversations are edifying to one another and honoring to God. If they are not, perhaps it would be best to close those particular conversations with a gracious spirit.

That's just my thoughts on this for what it's worth.

Grateful for the opportunity to converse on this important subject.

“For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,” (Hebrews 10:26) (NASB95)

This means the person was never saved in the first place.
When did you sin against your will? What sin did you commit by coercion?

I'm not clear about what you are asking. But aren't drug addicts coerced into sinning by their addictions? Or people under orders to kill or suffer the consequences?
I don't think any ordered Jack the Ripper to kill!

Grace of God is superior to any sin, correct? paul thought so, how much more, remember?
How did Jezebel deceive the church in Revelation? Teaching them to fornicate?
“Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.” (Revelation 2:20–23) (KJV 1900)

Nothing to do about divorce and remarriage, as you are reading far too much of your own views on this back into scripture sin general!
What do you tell a couple who were divorced, now remarried, with children of their union, and want to come back to God and the church again?

How many churches send more to hell than they do heaven sanctifying adulterous marriages?
