Is Faith a Work?

What is it about 'church' that could not be done right here on this list? So we don't sing together. I cetainly do as I am posting or between posts. So we might not pray together? I do between posts, don't you? Steaver and DHK sure do a lot of preaching, and do you not hear some things in Church that are not according to the truth?? I certainly have.
Back to you Marcia.

Was Mary having church listening at the Lords feet?? I would say YES!!

Amy: HP, is faith a work?

I thought you would never ask.:)

Certainly, ‘in a sense.’ Faith is NOT meritorious but it is a condition and does involve a direct voluntary act of the will. Faith is like all conditions. It is never thought of in the sense of ‘that for the sake of,’ meaning we are NOT saved ‘for the sake of’ our faith, but rather is always thought of in the sense of ‘not without which,’ i.e., we will not be saved apart from our faith.

Posting on this board is by no means the same as assembling with fellow believers for corporate worship. I know from experience.

Ok. So faith is not a work. I think I said that earlier.

HP: That may well be true, but there are seasons of life we have to work through and this is one of those seasons that is not the norm for me that I am working through with the Lord's help. God will guide and direct me as He so desires in His time. His fruit in His season. God only knows the good we do in different settings.

JK, I would say she did and was definitely where ‘two or three are gathered.’ Can you imagine? Learning and fellowshipping with the Lord in person at His feet??? I would think that any honest soul would have considered it the height of their church/fellowship experiences.

Mt*16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The church wasn't built yet.

It was being done in real time "Greek: “ekklesia” means, “Called Out Ones”. The main point however was when two or three get together in Jesus...He is there.

Amy, what constitutes a church?

The church is the body of Christ. A group of believers in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ who have placed their faith in Him who died for their sins.

Mary and Martha were Jews. Jesus had not died and certainly not been resurrected. There was no NT church before Calvary.
