Are you calling me a dog?
I can't answer for him, but that saying is commonly used
"Because you, like so many anti-Calvinists on the forum, lump us all together under the inaccurate appellation "Calvinist."" Post #75.
I am not anti calvinist. I am opposed to the spread of militant Calvinism in the SBC. Big difference.

I don't lump you all together. Did my O.P. not plainly say "many, (not all) Calvinists"?
I later posted an article about Calvinism and you responded. I do think certain points of the article describe you perfectly.
As rev says "a hit dog hollers." (Figure of speech, not calling you a literal dog)
My best friend is a Presbyterian Calvinist and the article does not describe him at all. He is the most humble pastor you will ever meet. He is confident but displays that confidence in love. Your confidence comes across as arrogance. You then blame the reader for "reading something into" what you say. Many of your posts are condescending.

I am an Historic Particular Baptist.

Because you, like so many anti-Calvinists on the forum, lump us all together under the inaccurate appellation "Calvinist."
I don't know why you have such an aversion to the term Calvinist.

You quote with approval from the Canons of Dort.

You speak approvingly of Spurgeon who wasn't the least bit shy of calling himself a Calvinist.

Because, #1, my faith is not founded on a man, but on God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a Christian.

You quote with approval from the Canons of Dort.
Yes, I do. I, for the most part, agree with them.

You speak approvingly of Spurgeon who wasn't the least bit shy of calling himself a Calvinist.
Yes, I do. And Mr. Spurgeon is free, as am I, to describe himself in whatever terms he pleases. Just as Revmitchel is free to call himself a "Traditionalist" even though the Particular Baptists were the traditionalists (although that name came along around 1630) and the General Baptists came along later (around 1600).

What is Militant Calvinism though? As what is happening in the Sbc right now is basically a rediscovery of historical baptist viewpoints regarding sotierology!

Maybe he agrees with tulip, but not the Covenant theology proper, nor use of the Confessions!

I would love to hear. All I have ever heard is he does not like John Calvin Calvin due to some of his other beliefs and refuses to use the term.

Calvinists who attempt to force their belief into the Convention.

I have never said I don't like John Calvin. I don't know John Calvin. I never met him. I disagree with some of his doctrine including his statism, infant baptism, ecclesiology and other issues of lesser import.

And I don't refuse to use the term. I just refuse to identity my faith with a mere man. My faith is identified by the Lord Jesus Christ.

As I self-identify as a Particular Baptist that phrase is much more accurate regarding my belief system. I believe in Particular Redemption as opposed to General Redemption, and Baptist Ecclesiology as opposed to Reformed Ecclesiology.

Are the main differences between you and reformed Baptist be in the areas of Covenant theology, and the use of Confessions?

Of course you are refusing to use that term.My faith is identified by the Lord and the faith of millions throughout Christianity who have called themselves Calvinists does not detract from that fact.
