After watching the video again, it is confirmed that the choke hold was released within seconds of when he was put on the ground. When he was complaining that he could not breath, the officer that had applied the choke hold is clearly visable with his back to the camera holding the suspects head down. He clearly does not have him in a choke hold. He has the number 99 on the back of a green jersey.
It is absolutely crystal clear that the suspect is speaking and no choke hold is being applied.
The grand jury got it right.
He had the choke applied for approximately 15 seconds about 9 of which were on the ground in which he then started crushing the guys head into the pavement. The damage was obviously done at that point. You can quibble all you want but the choke hold is the catalyst for his death. It's tough to say that the Grand Jury got it right when you don't even know what points the Grand Jury deliberated on.
All this aside, are you comfortable with the police handling situations like Garner's in that manner? Is that doing the perception of law enforcement any favors in this country? Are you totally fine with the police using banned tactics and skipping away scott free. Don't you think that it is a little strange they couldn't even coax a manslaughter indictment out of this. Or is it just, clean kill one more for the goodguys.
