Is ad hominem all you've got?

Only when it's appropriate. And you definitely asked for it with such a ridiculous comment.

"By the time wannabe-dictators start sending their opponents to the camps, it's generally too late."

Sad . Over the top. For dramatic effect only.

Sure you are. It's written all over every post. You're envious of his success, so you feel compelled to criticize his every move. And you always come back to his business career, but only his failures , because his successes irritate you.

Counseling is definitely in order.

We should all aspire to be as civil and restrained as the Rev here.

And good friends and advisers will tell your when you are wrong. An adviser is not a good adviser who simply rubber stamps what you say and propose. This is especially true of the president's chief of staff. He is the man/woman who needs to tell the president what he does not want to hear and when to back off. Trump does not allow that. He fires people like that.

A good adviser is not cheerleader. A cheerleader is not a good adviser.

Good friends and advisers do not let you continually make a fool of yourself!

Here is a reference to an excellent book on the subject:

The Gatekeepers: How the White House Chiefs of Staff Define Every Presidency

Since when do you make the rules for how the GOP runs a cabinet? And why don't you ask the moderators to delete your absurd wrong word above?

I don't make rules. Such rules come from common sense. I have studied life as well as business and government. Advisers are not cheerleaders and cheerleaders are not advisers. When a person needs an adviser he needs someone who will give advice, not admiration.

No president knows everything. That is why he/she needs advisers who are experts in their area. That is why they need people who will advise them, even when that advice flies against what they were thinking. There is no positives when a person will not listen to their advisers. There is no progress when the president fires the giver of unwelcome, but needed advice. That is called killing the messenger. Part of being loyal is giving unwelcome advice that protects the president from his/her own foolishness.

Many of Jimmy Carter's problems stemmed from selecting the wrong chief-of-staff.

Bill Clinton's presidency was saved by his second chief-of-staff who brought order out of chaos inside the White House an who was very tough on Clinton.

James Baker is acknowledged as the best chief-of-staff any president has had.

A person who will not taker advice is a very foolish person.

Read the book I referenced, "The Gatekeepers" by Whipple. It is a very enlightening book.

I am glad to hear that you don't make the rules.

When are you going to correct you very bad use of the wrong word above?

I am open to editorial suggestion.

By the way, when a person has had life experiences and has learned the rules he does not have to make them up

Only a very foolish person would try to make up rules when there are already good rules almost universally accepted.

Here is another good Biblical piece on advice that Trump ... or anyone would do well to heed:

Proverbs 15:31-33

He whose ear listens to the life-giving reproof Will dwell among the wise. He who neglects discipline despises himself, But he who listens to reproof acquires understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility.

From Vanity Fair, at the beginning of Obama's 2nd term :

"Barack Obama famously declared , “I don’t want to have people who just agree with me. I want people who are continually pushing me out of my comfort zone...

To say that things haven’t worked out that way for Obama is the mildest understatement. “No! God, no!” one former senior Obama adviser told me when I asked if the president had lived up to this goal."

It is doubtful that you criticized Obama for surrounding himself with Yes men. And I'm sure that the internet was not abuzz about.

Your "studies" were a waste of time. You learned nothing or you wouldn't be so far left on the political spectrum.

It appears that mostly what you learned is how to regurgitate leftist talking points.

Were they 'yes' men? Give me a link to that information. Thanks.

I didn't think ad hominems were appropriate at all on these boards. If you're not prepared to have a civil discussion, why are you participating?

Such over the top drama is not "civil discussion".

It doesn't merit any other response.

If you want to have a civil discussion, leave the needless over the top drama in the box.

When people stop going 'over the top' about Muslims, including the Mayor of London, you might begin to have a point you can make.
