Preterism - True Or false?

Hate to disappoint ya, Captain, but I DO take Scripture literally as possible. I realize there are some metaphors, symbols, and allegory in Scripture, but many of them are explained in other parts of Scripture, while our hindsight of world history and all Scripture as a body explains the rest. For example, you can sit down with your Bible & Encyclopaedia Britannica to follow daniel's vision of the Seleucids & Ptolemies after Alexander the Great died, up til they became part of Rome.
But the prophesied events prets SAY have already occurred, are simply ABSENT from world history, for the simple reason they HAVEN'T HAPPENED YET!
IF there was the second coming, and the resurrection of the saints already, we all lost out!
It hasn't happened yet, as is quite-obvious.
Literal fulfilment of OC prophecy, even in the NC Scripture, often ignores the context & details of the prophecy.
e.g.
Mat. 1:22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Isaiah 7:13 Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. 15 Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good. 16 For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will be forsaken by both her kings.
The literal fulfilment concerned the invasion of Judah by Israel & Syria, who would not prevail against Judah. They would fall to the Assyrians, whereas Judah would triumph. Isaiah 7:13 Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! With NC eyes we see a wonderful prophecy of our Messiah.

You are literally fooling yourself. From the very outset of the controversy you and your brand go to great lengths to rationalize away the plain literal words of Christ and the Apostles. Take the fine examples of dispensational chop suey you’ve already provided in posts 7 and 17 of the extent you’ll go to distort and rationalize away the plain literal meaning of scripture:
What you do here is nothing short of violence to the marvelous continuity of scripture concerning ‘that generation’. You are literally wresting the scriptures. The threefold declaration of Christ’s words is plain:
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished. Mt 24:34
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, until all these things be accomplished. Mk 13:30
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished. Lk 21:32
Rather than forcing 'genea' to mean what you want it to, it’s a simple easy peasy hermeneutic of comparing scripture with scripture and allowing it to interpret itself what is intended by the word. Genea is exactly, literally, as it appears. It means that age of people then living, the generation contemporary with Christ, that particular generation of Christ's day which was specifically singled out and foretold by Moses some 1400 years earlier (ah, the marvelous continuity of scripture):
29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do that which is evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands. Dt 31
5 They have dealt corruptly with him, they are not his children, it is their blemish; They are a perverse and crooked generation.
20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: For they are a very perverse generation, Children in whom is no faithfulness.
21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; They have provoked me to anger with their vanities: And I will move them to jealousy with those that are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. Dt 32
Genea of The Olivet Discourse is the very same generation spoken of in the Song of Moses and other NT references, there is no break in the continuity:
22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished. Lk 21
Minutes later Christ addresses that 'genea' again:
33 Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how shall ye escape the judgment of hell?
34 Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: some of them shall ye kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:
35 that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Mt 23
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet:
40 for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

And Josephus certainly had nothing good to say of 'that generation':
“It is therefore impossible to go distinctly over every instance of these men's iniquity. I shall therefore speak my mind here at once briefly: - That neither did any other city ever suffer such miseries, nor did any age ever breed a generation more fruitful in wickedness than this was, from the beginning of the world.....” Book 5, ch 10, sec. 5
“.. I suppose, that had the Romans made any longer delay in coming against these villains, that the city would either have been swallowed up by the ground opening upon them, or been overflowed by water, or else been destroyed by such thunder as the country of Sodom (20) perished by, for it had brought forth a generation of men much more atheistical than were those that suffered such punishments; for by their madness it was that all the people came to be destroyed....” Book 5, ch. 13, sec. 6

Instead of parroting the dispy playbook of rationalizations to explain away the literal meaning and then making the phony claim that you adhere to the literal meaning, you should simply allow scripture to interpret itself. Easy peasy.

Not all versions render it as the KJV, so I can see why you prefer the KJV here because it gives you the wiggle room to do your rationalizing away of the plain literal meaning of 'shortly come to pass'.

Actually, I don't have to rationalize nor delve into the Greek too much at all. The simple FACT is, THE EVENTS HAVE NOT YET HAPPENED!
So, let's let the prets do all the research into the Greek as they try to figure out why their pronouncements & doctrines fell flat on their snoots.

No, it is a translation of the Greek word used. The word γενεὰ is the word from which we get our English word "generate." An electric plant "generates" electricity. It is what the plant makes. In this case it means "that which was generated, or created."
Compare the following:
Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, (This is what God created in the beginning.)
Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: (This is what Noah created.)
Genesis 11:10 These are the generations of Shem: (This is what Shem created.)
It is folly to think that every use of a Greek word should be translated the same way. And, of course, I did not say the word should be translated "mankind." I said it means "generated" in the sense of "created" or "creation." God "generated" or "created" mankind. No Christian I know of denies that.

And again, it's obvious Jesus was NOT speaking about the whole body of mankind alive at that time. Why is it so obvious? BECAUSE THE PROPHESIED EVENTS HAVE NOT YET OCCURRED! There's just NO getting by that big ole bear of a fact!
