Finally, someone has given something that is a sign that ungodly worship is occuring...
I have asked this before when does music cross the line from worship to entertainment...

Thank you BGTF... although I don't agree with you, you have at least given us a physical benchmark upon which you understand music to cross that line....

Just for the record, my son plays drums.. are you saying he is not a Christian?

Hi, I just dropped by to check on the dead horse, yep he is all tore up from the beating.

Really, there is nothing in the world today worth an honest and for true discussion?

I am not sure if this is more funny or just plain sad.

What's sad is someone equating someone elses spirituality with the type of Christian music they listen too..

To go as far as to say that a church that has drums has no Christians is insane, and offensive to Christ!

But that is the way the Anti-CCM crowd plays...

It shows their true colors, and shows that their belief is divisive, and straight from the pits of Hell! It divides Christians based upon unbiblical rules and regs, and builds up personal pride. (ie. "I must be a Christian.. I only listen to hymns"... or "I am a better Christian than that CCM listener")

The more the Anti-CCM crowd posts, the more you see they don't have love in their hearts.

So keep it up people... your unloving posts are being watched by the world...

And God says that the world can tell you are his by the way you show love...

So keep it up... I think I saw that horse raise it's head...

You won't find me arguing for a piano or an organ in the church.

Psalm 150 is not a command to the church any more than the Law of Sacrifice in Leviticus. The spiritual aspects, however, still apply.

You don't think the demeanor of their worship is directly linked to the depth of their spirituality?

Once again, I am not talking about musical instruments, and people who play the drums are not "bad" Christians.
What's sad to see is the language of older hymns slipping away. Just the other week, we did a song that is maybe 600 years old. I sang it often growing up, and it's been about that long since I sang it last, but it still came through clear as day in my memory. However, besides the choir, I could count only a handful of others who knew it, besides myself, in a congregation of hundreds. That means, in just my lifetime alone, songs are being forever lost in time. It's a constant scamble against time to commit these songs to memory before they are gone for good.

    love,

...and speaking of rocksteady, which was the basis for reggae, for a good example of rocksteady (because that term is unfamiliar to most in the US), check out a great Kingston group call the Gaylads.

Nothing Rasta or sinful about them. Just good music.

    What? Who?? ME???

By the way, I'm covering my horses ears singing "La,La,La" for him so he doesn't hear about the horse here. He's quite sympathetic. ;)

Hey now, I don't like most CCM but please don't paint me with that broad of a brush. My personal taste in music is more classical, but that's just my OPINION. My husband loves southern gospel. I can't stand it, but as long as ANY particular type of music honors Christ, who am I to judge? If CCM draws my friends closer to God, it's not my job to condemn just because our taste is different. They aren't forcing me to like it or listen to it or attend a church that promotes it.

I equate the music debate with the modesty/pants debate. Let the Holy Spirit guide you, not someone else's personal preference.

Actually, I LOVE Beethoven's ODE TO JOY. It is like 20 minutes of pure joy. But most classical, ack.

I completely agree. So many of our beautiful hymns are slipping away. I cannot count the times when God has brought an old hymn to my mind and it encouraged me more than anything. Most people don't even know the Star Spangled Banner has more than one verse, much less the powerful words in the other stanzas.

That's not being part of the anti-CCM crowd I was talking about...
The Anti-CCM crowd around here says that CCM cannot honor Christ...
And they equate their opinion with Scripture... you said the "O" word... opinion...which is really what it boils down too...

Actually your post will put you on the opposite side of the anti-CCM crowd...

    Maybe I misnamed them...

I think you made great sense....
What say you Soprannette, or Aaron or BGTF...
Is this what you all are saying? Or does she sound more like me?

First, this is a mis-interpretation of Ephesians. Second, we've started lapsing into Pythagorean philosophy again. Third, you have absolutely no Scriptural support for your positions.

    1. What gives you the right to question my salvation? Shame on you.
    2. Patently untrue. We have a traditional service and a contemporary service at my church. To date this year:
      1. CONTEMPORARY SERVICE: 36 Professions of faith, 62 other additions.
      2. TRADITIONAL SERVICE: 25 Professions of faith, 64 other additions.
And, since our CS is slightly larger, the numbers extrapolate almost identically.

So go ahead, "man up," and tell the whole BB right here and now that God is not working in my church. Are you really willing to do something like that??????????
