People can call the dogs tail a leg, but that does not mean the dog has four legs.

The COVID vaccine has no effect on our genes, therefore it is not "gene therapy".

It is fine to decide not to take a vaccine - I respect that decision. But you have jumped from referring to the mRNA as one of these vaccines some think cause autism to calling it gene therapy.

It looks like you are grasping at every conspiracy theory that you come across if it "supports" your decision not to be vaccinated.

I support people making their own decisions about their health. But I think we should consider facts rather than propaganda (on both sides).

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are mRNA vacvines. The Johnson and Johnson vacvine was developed from an adenovirus (a traditionalvaccine). None are gene therapies.
Gene therapy avenues and COVID-19 vaccines

Right there in black and white from an extreme proponent of the "vaccines".
I don't need an excuse not to take vaccine. Newest research released says those who had Covid, and build a testable level of antibodies, are most likely immune for life and at least as immune to variants as vaccinated population.

From the article -

"Besides, mRNA has a very short half-life; this facilitates their elimination from the body after doing their work; thus, preventing any interaction with the packed human genetic materials."

The vaccine is not gene therapy.

This article is saying that mRNA vaccine technology is providing a potential delivery method for gene therapy in the future. Not that the vaccines are gene therapy.

If a patient is missing a gene, say the cystic fibrosis gene, it is possible now to deliver with this technology the mRNA sequence that would alow the cell to make that missing protein. For it to be used as gene therapy, the patient would have to receive the medication on a regular basis because in this technology, the patient's genes are not altered so the benefit would be transient.

This mRNA technology will be a big difference maker for a lot of diseases and those who believe the fear mongering disinformation from political sources, will unfortunately miss out on potentially life transforming therapies.

Did you read the article. About 2/3rds through it, article plainly states it is.

"After doing their work.". Kind of like fire. Throw a match on some old curtains in a house. House burns down. After the fire "did it's work," it's gone. Gone pretty quickly too.

Transient benefits? So you signing up for the yearly Covid shot? Maybe yearly two shots.

I will explain what the words mean but you will continue to misrepresent the words to suit the false narrative you want to make.

For those interested in the science, gene therapy is a field of medicine that seeks to treat diseases where the problem is one or a few genes that are defective. Examples include cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anaemia, haemochromatosis and Huntingtons. There are many ways to potentially cure these conditions but ultimately what you want is the correct cells producing the correct protein.

One way to do that might be to cut out the defective gene and insert the correct gene but you woud have to do that for every cell in the body right now, and every cell that will be produced in the future that needs that protein to function correctly. The technology for this does not exist yet and is still quite far away.

Another way might be using mRNA technology and bypass DNA altogether and straight to RNA which can then make the missing protein. The defective gene that may or may not be producing a defective protein would still be there. The vaccines show us that this is possible but they produce a protein that only lasts for days. So for this to work as gene therapy, the drug companies will need to develop a way for the RNA and proteins to be around longer and the patient will need to get regular injections. We are not quite there yet but the vaccines show us a clear path of development that is not far away and could be life changing for a lot of people.

The spike protein that is generated by the mRNA is transient and only lasts for days. The immune reaction to those spike proteins that mimic what the immune system would normally do with exposure to the virus lasts much longer. How long we aren't sure but usually we are looking at years. For the tetanus and whooping cough vaccine it is about 10 years for adults. For MMR, the 2nd booster often last a lifetime. Yes there may be another booster needed for the covid19 vaccine but it could also be just the 2 shots.

Yes, I read the article which clearly states the vaccine is NOT gene therapy. It is dealing with mRNA.

Vaccines do not add chemicals to our body, or alter our genes, to combat viruses. They produce an autoimmune response from our bodies, which gives us antibodies to fight the virus.

It is a good thing the fire "does its work" and is gone. That is the point.

Why is CDC trying to get people who already have Covid antibodies vaccinated?

If you are really interested in the answer, it is because the level of immune response to natural infection is variable. Think of natural infection as the first dose of the vaccine except you don’t get a reliable dose. Your immune response is generally proportional to the severity of illness.

So folks who recover from a severe case of covid get a stronger immunity than folks who have a very mild or asymptomatic case. In all cases antibodies would be detected soon after that infection but given more time, that immunity will wane faster in people who had a milder case but will still wane in people with the more severe case.

If you want longer lasting immunity in both cases, you still want the full vaccine, but particularly if you had a mild illness to start.

Immunity is not an on or off thing but a gradient. I guess if you think about it from the perspective of your immune system, it needs to figure out how much energy to invest in defending against a similar attack in the future. If the threat is minor and singular, it will not bother to invest lots of resources into protecting you in the future. If the threat is severe and multiple, it will invest lots of resources to make sure you don’t ever get it again.

This study shows that vaccination after previous infection develops very high levels of antibody after the first dose and not much difference with the second. For those without previous infection, their first dose also has a variable response but less variable than natural immunity. The second dose provides a very robust consistent response that is similar to the 1st dose of the previously infected.

I would say the ones who are being controlled and manipulated by fear mongering and misinformation, who ultimately lose their freedom with illness, death, longer pandemics with worse economies are those who listen to those tyrants who are only able to maintain their power over their sheep by tricking them into thinking they are independent thinkers just because they are going against the status quo of things that have evidence of actually helping them.

Just like how Satan tricks people into thinking that sin and choosing your own way over God’s way is freedom while Christians experience true freedom from sin and death by surrendering to God’s way allowing us to live life to the fullest.

If this country had not shut down and had gone about business as usual, we would be in much better shape today than we currently are. Doctors knew early how to treat Covid, but CDC gave poor guidance. CDC said don't use steroids. That turned out to be foolish advice.

Doctors did not know how to treat covid early on because that requires research and data for any new disease. But if you are so trusting of doctors now for some reason (when it suits your narrative) then a vast overwhelming majority doctors would have advised distancing, lockdowns, masks at certain times and following the CDC recommendations which were based on the best available evidence at that time, something that is constantly evolving in a new pandemic.

If the US had been more consistent and aggressive early on with adopting the recommended public health policies and taking the pandemic seriously, shutting down disinformation networks, it could have had significantly less deaths, earlier opening up and recovery of economies and true freedom from covid like that enjoyed by countries like Australia and New Zealand for 6-9 months now.

Doctors had great ideas of how to treat it. Steroids. But CDC said don't use steroids.
The lockdowns didn't work. The most locked down states had Covid as bad as the most opened ones. People who hid in their closets got it as bad as those who went about life. Should have been business as usual and hit herd immunity. The ventilator lie was a bunch of Crap. Christians let the government shut churches down. That is utterly shameful.
I changed churches. Went to the only SBc church I know of in the county that didn't shut down. One of the deacons asked me where I had been. I told him "your church is non-essential. Why should I go?". Got that instant shame look on his face.
