Sugar-Coated Cuss Words. Should a Christian say Gee?

Do you know what the Bible says will distinguish a Christian from the world? It's not language usage. Hmmm, maybe I should wait to see if anyone really knows since that one quality is often missing from the pages of the BB. I wonder how long it will take before someone comes up with the correct answer.

You know, if you want to keep your language "pure" in honor your faith that is fine, but don't try to bully anyone else into falling in with your line.

When I am standing in front of God Almighty, He isn't going to be looking at me. Christ will be standing between us the sacrifice for anything, ANYTHING, ANYTHING, I might have said or done in this life. What does the Bible say? "As far as the east is from the west is how far my sins have been put away".

Yes, we should strive for perfection, but the idle words that lead us in the opposite direction are described as gossip! The apostle Peter is described as using some "rough" language, but it wasn't the language that he was chatised for, but the attitude!

You have some good points. What has someone accomplished that has perfect curse free language and proceeds to the remote church corners to flap their jaws and gossip? If someone has perfect curse free language with anger and hate in their heart towars another, what have they accomplished?

Not that I want to ever hear the words, but you are going to hear it at work. If one can compare one bad situation to another, I would rather hear the person who slips with an occasional word without hate, anger, and gossip in their heart compared to the examples above.

It was mentioned about every idle word being accountable. That includes thought, attitude, etc.

By the way, the term "OMG" or any other term expressing the name of God or His qualities does not fit into the catagory of "sugar coated words." I would rather hear the most vile four letter word than OMG.

Euphemisms are a joke. Are you trying to float one passed the FCC, the school board or the PC committee? Don't waste your time. God knows the intent.

If you want sugar-coated curse words, just learn to speak East London English. We grew up with them all.

That's right. I think others here are trying to minimize the sinfulness of their sugar-coated cuss words.

Years ago, I played golf with a fellow who, every time he made a bad shot, would mutter "HammmmmmBURger"

I'm still trying to figure out what profanity he was sugar-coating.

Same question with "ratsa-fratz!" and "snicker-fritz!"

And the same with "Shoot a mile!"

Anything wrong with these expressions?

Of course they are. Why do you think these expressions are called sugar-coated cuss words? Folks are trying to cover-up something more ugly-sounding in exchange for a less offensive term -- they are using euphemisms.

No....they are not. Not every instance of exclamations made in excitement of frustration are sugar coated curse words.

God looks at the heart and knows the intent of whatever anyone says or does.

I know of one guy who danced in his underwear as an expression of worship to God. I heard his wife criticized him for it. I think his name was David.

Let me change gears slightly here. When I was in Germany, I worked on a furniture truck - we delivered govt furniture to US families - I was the supervisor of 3 German workers who spoke very little or no English. Well, we picked up words from each others language. There was one particular German word they used quite often, and I started using it quite often for a period of time - that is until I found out the translation meant. I would tell you, but I do not want to be banned from BB - of course I stopped immediately when I found out what it meant.
Question - was I cussing without knowing it?

Personally, my relationship with God is not affected, nor is my disposition knocked out of joint, if someone uses the word "heck" or any derivatives thereof. But, to prevent us from offending another board member, perhaps those who take offense at words like "heck" should publish a list of do not use words in order that we not offend their religious disposition.
