Yes, these are vile expressions from heck.

And they come from Stan, the Prince of Insufficient Light.

(snicker)

While we're at it, the characters above the nubmer keys on your keyboard are also wrong.

For that reason, I will never type @*##&!!! again.

 :D

Let me change gears slightly here. When I was in Germany, I worked on a furniture truck - we delivered govt furniture to US families - I was the supervisor of 3 German workers who spoke very little or no English. Well, we picked up words from each others language. There was one particular German word they used quite often, and I started using it quite often for a period of time - that is until I found out the translation meant. I would tell you, but I do not want to be banned from BB - of course I stopped immediately when I found out what it meant.
Question - was I cussing without knowing it?

Baptist Bob mention God know's the intent - hmm?

When I was a kid, my parents took in a refugee family from Laos. As they were learning English, we found it nearly impossible to keep the kids from picking up new “undesirable language.” The big issue was that there is no such thing as a swear word in their culture. The worst thing you could do in their language is say “Bock jow,” which, loosely translated, means “Against you!” or possibly call someone a water buffalo.

Eventually we solved the problem by giving them an exhaustive list of offensive words and explaining what each one meant. :( Do’h! To this day my Lao “brothers” still shake their heads and laugh over this issue.

Of course they are. Why do you think these expressions are called sugar-coated cuss words? Folks are trying to cover-up something more ugly-sounding in exchange for a less offensive term -- they are using euphemisms.
Thank you Mr English professor and social expert.

Oh the silly things we argue about. What a total waste of valuable God given time. It would be better spent .

I think you have a point there. Here's a new idea for debate by all of you theological experts. Lets debate Calvinism the the King James version of the Bible.

 That's what I've been doing! If that puts me in the same category as these "experts", I think I shall stop. (I need to go mow the yard anyway. Much more productive :tongue3:)

Hey folks, this is a debate forum. Think we ought not to debate it? Don't.

I doubt if any of us will neglect our prayer life, Bible study, or family obligations because we've spent time on this subject. And I guarantee you I won't skip my nap. zzzzzzz

I for one have found this to be a good discussion. And some of you are having way too much fun.

Bob, some folks have their shoes tied too tight to understand, let alone put up with any humor. They only understand frowns.

Actually, Jesus wants you to mow my yard. That's WAY more productive.

(Just noticed you didn't mow it yesterday...heavens to betsy!)

Speaking of such...is "Heavens to Betsy" OK?

I tried "Hades to Hortense" and it just didn't sound right....

Maybe "Purgatory to Pollyanna"? (nope. too Catholic.)
"Sheol to Sam"?
"Paradise to Patrick"?
"Heck to Hal"?
"Beulahland to Bob"?

:D :D

I've been know to take the name of a false god in vain...is there anything wrong with shouting "Buddha", "Molech" or "Baal" when you stub a toe? ;)
