Texas judge under fire over discipline video

I only saw a few seconds where he made her turn over, and I thought, he spanked her with his hand... hard.. I don't recall any audio, but.. I have disciplined several of our children, much the same as I observed in that few seconds. I get good and angry, at rebellion, and administer corporal punishment with my open hand, to the butt hard enough to hurt my hand.. I do it in anger, anger at the rebellion, but I do not sin in it.. I know my strength, and know the limits needed, and I know how long to administer the spanking. Well, past tense, as our children are well grown up and all use the same kind of discipline as we did.

It has been easy for satan to pervert even the elect's perceptions on what constitutes good discipline, and our society is paying dearly for it. We have chosen to believe him over God's Word.

It is so sad to see a young mother trying to "reason" with a 3 or 4 year old screaming to get his way in the candy aisle. We never had that problem past a day or so..

I doubt I needed to spank any of our children more than 3 times (one child excepted) or so in their lives. Prov 22:15 The rod drives foolishness "far from him". Once crime and punishment, and expectations are understood and accepted, there is little (if any) corporal punishment needed.

If you did what this man did, you along with him should be locked up.

Good post and I agree. :thumbs: One thing he did use a belt, and it went on for a long time but it was not child abuse as some are claiming. She was never medically harmed.

I guess I was abused. I was spanked with a belt by my father and a yard stick (bare bottom) by my mother. I didn't like it one bit, but I know I deserved it.

I'm not trying to be on either side, but last night Fox news reported that the father got custody of the girl after her mother divorced him.

I don't intend to watch it any further, but based on your posts and others, he probably crosses some lines.. My overall objections go to the societal movement that says spanking is abuse.. IMO, 99+% of spankings are both good and proper. And spanking or switching or paddling today is a loosing proposition, sponsored by satan, and furthered by misdirected people, resulting in spoiled, ungrateful, selfish and insatiable children, and self indulgent adults.

I remember what James Dobson said years ago, concerning the time he had to sit on a panel viewing pornography, and hearing his thoughts and mindset as a result.. It confirmed in my mind, the need to not put my eyes on things unwholesome if I had a choice.

I've already taken your word that the beating is horrendous.. My spanks were never more than 5 or so, and usually only 2 or 3. What decides the numbers, is the child's outlook or attitude..

I just watched the video again. It was 17 strikes from her father who was a grown man and he threw his body into it. Hard. He hit her on the legs, bottom, back, arms and chest.

I watched the video. The man was totally out of control. There no love envolved in that. He is a coward and a bully that has no place in a position of authority. I say coward because he wouldn't dare use that kind of attitude on someone who was on equal terms with him and could and would stand up to his type of abuse. Like me!

No there is no command to beat a wife. First my wife would be a woman that the Loved and His word. Second this woman is not his wife. The statement about her needing a whipping is true as she is destroying her daughters life by teaching her to be irresponsible. This whole matter came up because the father cut the daughter off from paying her bills.

I was only commiting on what you said. I support spanking, just ask my two grown children. I even used a belt, but I didn't curse them and scream at them and hit them as this man did in the video. Perhaps you didn't see all of it or you did not see the video I saw which included the sound. If this is the case I apologize.
