Texas' Restrictive Voter ID Law Stops A Former U.S. House Speaker From Getting A Vote

"Discriminatory"? Discriminating against who? Democrats?

Seems to me, *any* 90-year-old with an expired driver's license is going to be denied the opportunity, regardless of their race, sexual orientation, etc. So where's the discrimination?

Bunch of partisan baloney just like the guy out of NC. You can say Democrat all day long, but if there is a disparate impact to protected groups within the Democrats, it's discriminatory.

The law is designed, either stated or not, to impact groups that vote Democrat including segments based on age, race and gender.

It's discriminatory and goes to show just how wretchedly wicked folks in the church continue to be when it comes to their politics.

That's why the more we continue this mess, the more the GOP and those in the church who support this type of unGodliness will continue to get what they don't want. Folks just don't learn.

The discrimination is against the people fighting voter fraud. That's all this is. Democrats know they cannot get what they want done honestly. Look no further than Obamacare for proof.

Funny. Break the law to keep folks from breaking the law. Way to go GOP.

The law had already been found to be discriminatory by a bipartisan three judge panel in DC.

You said it. Stop trying to say you didn't. Doesn't matter what you said on other posts. I used your own words. Your words give us the impression congresspeople deserve better than us.

Only because of your inability to comprehend.

Back to the O/P. I like it when the same rules apply to them as do us. I have to show a current ID to vote. So should everybody.[/QUOTE]

The rules should apply to all ... but the rules should be rational, not stupid.

Jim Wright? I can't say I care that much. He is responsible for the Wrong Amendment (a.k.a. the Wright Amendment).

If someones elderly mother can wait in line to vote she can wait in line to get a legitimate ID.

Yep, right there is the sort of love that an intertwining of the GOP and the evangelical church have come to be known for.

Sad.

Voter fraud is a Republican myth. The Bush administration tried to find it and could not.

Five years after the Bush administration began a crackdown on voter fraud, the Justice Department has turned up virtually no evidence of any organized effort to skew federal elections, according to court records and interviews.

...If more Republicans show up to vote on election day because they've got the requisite ID, exit polling will show them winning and probably discourage other Dems from even bothering to vote. ...
If they do not vote for that reason - well they dont deserve to have their vote counted.

(for this reason, I would like to see seniorty [ of the same class] to be based on % of votes recieved)

Where I vote they would allow such a person to go to the head of the line.

Why? Lets say I been waiting in line for an hour - why should someone be allowed to cut in front of me- who just walked in.
Now, if a notiation was made - let them sit until their number comes up! Works at the meat counter at the grocery store.

Actually, the IRS was quite involved in a massive effort to suppress voter turnout on the conservative side. Lois Lerner resigned over it.

Even us Libertarians know that.

That's why it's called disenfranchisement. That's always one of the excuses that the side doing the disenfranchising uses. "Hey let's put up a deterrent to folks voting and then blame them if they don't vote for that reason, while claiming no responsibility for placing a barrier in their way to keep them from doing so."

No, you're campaigning against a perfectly valid expectation, that people presenting themselves to vote really are who they claim to be. Why?

Why are you campaigning that they aren't who they claim to be? If there is this much voter fraud taking place and the GOP is out to stop it, their requirements would be the same for absentee ballots as they are for voting at the polls.

They aren't because this ain't about voter fraud. This is all about the GOP attempting to find a way to cut into voting blocs that it has alienated to keep them from being counted for the GOP's opponents.

And it continues to be pure foolishness the way yall keep trying to disingenuously dismiss the obvious truth as though that changes it into what you want it to be.

Just more of the same old same old in wickedness that those in the church are becoming known for.

Sad.

I see you provide no links, no evidence. Still a myth until proven otherwise.

If you are right why didn't the Bush administration find anything after 5 years of investigations?

I do not want folks who cannot prove who they are to vote. Whatever lie you have to tell yourself to reconcile your pre-supposed prejudices about me are fine.

Salty, because of common courtesy and respect for the elderly. Seems we have far too little of either in our society these days .... IMHO.

If you are having to wait that long then the process in your area needs to do something about the polls and the voting process. I have never waited more than ten minutes and I live in an urban area.

If you're going to deny Lois Lerner resigned behind a conservative targeting scandal, then you are a liar. Go ahead and report me.

Whoa, I am starting to worry about your state of mind. I really do not know if you are disillusion or having early Alzheimer's. I've never heard of Lois Lerner much less talked about her. [I looked her up online. Nope, never talked about her. I see she was involved in a scandal during the summer. And you are totally off topic .... again. Sorry fellow.]

No, I won't report you. I really am beginning to feel sorry for you.
