The first brick hasn’t been set, and Trump’s border wall is already going south on him

NO president will get the SC pick though on their last year, as that is traditional! As the Congress always waits on the incoming President president for that!

I doubt you'd say the same if Trump got an opening a few years from now.

Just was saying that was NOT the first time an outgoing president had his SC pick stopped until the election of new president!

And I'm just saying it's purely political. Any justification from "tradition" or anything else is window dressing. The reality is that the GOP had the votes to keep the seat open, so they did. If they had a GOP President, they'd have had no problem confirming a nominee in the final year. Same goes for the Democrats.

Yes, both sides would do the same thing!

This is simply not true. It may be true from this point on, but the claims made at the time - and constantly revised to deal with the historical facts that refuted those claims - were/are false.

They refused to even hold a hearing as an act of naked power.

No your good, it's just that people tend to forget there are a substantial amount of people that are tired of being the first pawns to be sacrificed for someone else's political agenda. It gets tedious.

Yup. That's how you got Trump.

which is why it is so dumb to furlough govt workers - they will get the money anyways - which amounts to free time off.
But as UT also stated - it is a hardship when the money does not show up in your checking account.

Now if they were to "furlough" welfare payments........
Some Gov't employees still have to report to work, and are not paid until they are given their back-pay. It can be an extremely stressful situation.

Some are NOT furloughed, (i.e. Law Enforcement) they're just not paid.
I am one such employee and have had situations where I had to use credit cards just to have the gas to get to work.

That being said, I am not against shutting down the Gov't. if it is necessary, and would encourage doing so if the need is dire enough. This little spat does not seem critical enough (to me) to warrant a shut-down. They should save that ammo for more dire situations.

Heir of Salvation - I am fully aware that "essential personel" must still report to work
and its worse for them since they do not get paid.
In fact, I remember years ago - when I was in the Army, word came down, that it was
possible we would not be paid.

Can you imagine if a private business had the philosophy -........

Border wall is going south? Are we claiming more of Mexico? Or creating a new country, perhaps Drugland, between us?

Polls, Polls, Polls ~ pffft! 351 million in the US. 20 - 40 million illegal entrants. Average 100 to 1,600 participants in a Poll, that have nothing to do with citizenry or being a criminal.

Washington Post ~
They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words to favor liberal causes.

Amber Philips writes for the Washington Post, and her loading up with liberal loaded bias is more than obvious.

Hurd ( TEX-R ~ one of Amber's basis for claiming Republicans are against the wall. Hurd is "A" Republican, WHOSE district is loaded with....illegals.)

Hurd ~
advocated for a “flexible, sector-by-sector approach that empowers Border Patrol agents on the ground with the resources they need." Hurd proposed using "a mix of technology. (Will Hurd - Wikipedia)

In addition to the WALL, Trump has not opposed ramping up border patrol with additional agents.
Nor has he opposed a mix of technology.

We have used border patrol agents and technology for years ~
YET
illegal aliens break into the US in droves ~ and BTW ~ they vote and participate in Polls!

Not in a thread about the border wall. (Stay on topic.)

Did you start this thread?
No, I didn't think so.
Did you make a comment about a "good President"?
No, I didn't think so.
Are you the site police who dictates what questions one can ask another?
If not, how about you scroll on by what one member asks of another that doesn't interest you!

Actually, I was looking for what the poster who said it meant.
