Verse 24
No, he flat out said he is not only praying for the disciples.Still a reference to the disciples. His concern is that they are ready to go do what He sent them to do.
Jesus prayed for them AND for all who would believe in HIm afterwards! No, he flat out said he is not only praying for the disciples.
No, he flat out said he is not only praying for the disciples.
Yes it does. In the editions that have breaks and headings, the separation is made.NIV, CSB, HCSB do not separate it. No it doesn't.
All of the saved have been given to Him by the Father!Any time He says "those you have given me" it is a reference to the disciples.
All of the saved have been given to Him by the Father!
Definitely correct in this contextStill a reference to the disciples. His concern is that they are ready to go do what He sent them to do.
Due to the obvious change of tense, it makes no sense not to separate it.It makes no sense to separate it.
That prayer was specific for the 11.
Actually He doesnt until verse 20. 6-19 was for the 11 and most Bibles have titled that section as such for many, many years.
Jesus stated there that He was praying also for all of those yet to be saved, correct? That doesnt prove that that specific phrase is anything other than a reference to the disciples.
I am in good company.???
2 even as thou gavest him authority over all flesh, that to all whom thou hast given him, he should give eternal life.
20 Neither for these only do I pray, but for them also that believe on me through their word; Jn 17
Wow. Chop it up, twist it, make it say what you want to hear. Nothing short of violence to the word of God.
You are ignoring an obvious shift. No, he flat out said he is not only praying for the disciples.
Only in an anti-calvinist mind. All who the Father gives to him come to him, is that only the disciples too? Nonsense.Any time He says "those you have given me" it is a reference to the disciples.
34 And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And parting his garments among them, they cast lots. Lu 23
Who's included in this supplication?
Really? Who doesn't know that the High Priestly Prayer of Christ is John 17?
I agree Kentucky, Jesus was crucified for us but we didn't hold the hammer and drive the nails, or did we?... Brother Glen
John Macarthur calls it "The Lord's Prayer.". Is Johnny Mac not a preacher?I thought Rev Mitchell is a pastor?
