Blah, blah, blah Dems...check

I know you don't like the truth, but it just cannot be changed - it is what it is. In Chicago the gunfire never stops and when was the last Republican Mayor? In Minneapolis everyone has gone bonkers over the killing of George Floyd, but who is running the city? In New York, the place is turning back to what it used to be before Mayor Giuliani, of what party is the current Mayor who is in his second term?

These Democrats act like they are innocent bystanders when they are running the joint. Joe Biden claims he is going to bring us all together, so why didn't he do that when he was the VP for eight years? So yes, new leadership with people who have a totally different outlook on how cities should be run is needed.

Didn’t last long for the strawmen, denial and ad homs to come out in full force. It was a nice attempt though. Lol.

Yes, it appears I could devise a new numbering system for faulty arguments on the Political and News Events boards here.

Blah, blah, blah Dems...check
Plan to create Socialist state...check
Straw man that the thread was trying to justify turning country into “war zone.”...check
RevMitch blatant denial that anything could possibly be wrong...check.

The usual Rolodex of Baptist Board derailment techniques.

Yes, indeed.

I'm all for getting rid of Democrats, at least you voiced a way to possibly effect change. But how will getting rid of Dem mayors translate to cops being more conscientious when dealing with suspects? It seems to me that cops who serve under Democratic mayors are more likely to be reprimanded for violating police policies than those serving under Republicans, i.e. "law and order" mayors. Therefore, with the threat of discipline and punishment from Democratic mayors hanging over their heads they should be less likely to break the rules.

I'm not following how getting rid of Democrats will cause the police to reform.

I’m trying to follow but this doesn’t make sense. What specific policies do you think would change? Otherwise this just falls into the “blah blah blah Democrat’s” category. We are looking for tangible changes that can be made. I fail to see how you think things would change much simply by swapping political parties. The overarching feedback I’ve gotten from the more militant conservatives on this board is that there isn’t anything wrong at all.

Too many of these are vague. I’ll discuss specifics.

1. Illegalize the use of no-knock warrants

2. Illegalize civil asset forfeiture.

3. Automatic dismissal of police who fire their weapon and give the excuse that the suspect was drawing a weapon that didn’t exist either functioning or non-functioning.

4. Require police to justify their killings as if they were regular citizens.

5. Stop training police to be trigger-happy.

6. Retrain police to stop using possibly lethal means of restraining a suspect such as knees to the neck and back.

7. Teach police to arrest intelligently in the most peaceful way possible.

I don't know They are much different but okay you are actually contributing to the way forward in this thread and I’ll take it. Better sleep schedules for police so they aren’t cranky and irritable.
And not hallucinating, falling asleep driving, etc.

1.No knock warrants are a valuable tool. You go raid a meth lab without a no knock. I wont do it because I am not a fool.
2. I agree.
3. You need some simulator training and your mind will change on that. With your mentality, you will get shot 60 times in a 60 minute session.
4. They are required to. Only difference is no duty to retreat. If Police had duty to retreat it kind of makes having police pointless.
5. That is just a stupid comment.
6.That is already being done and has been done since the Rodney King incident.
7.That is always the goal and that is how we are trained. Thats why 99.99999% of arrests are not national news.

I didn't know how overworked police are. Thank you for informing me. Someone I know, who is an expert, told me a lack of training is why I have had an overuse of force on me. The scenario that occurred was mental health related, and the first responders are poorly trained for such scenarios I'm told by that expert on mental health crises.

Police need higher pay if they have to be nearly perfect, which unfortunately is just the way things are. They also need far better hours. I want police rested and happy as much as possible. There also needs to be better training on a variety of issues.

Though, if you don't mind Reynolds, how good is police training currently?

Police training is good. The problem is an educated and well trained idiot is still an idiot. The mental health is a tough one.
I have a lot of training in mental health area of policing. HIPA law crap is your biggest enemy. I font know if someone is mental or doped up and due to stupid privacy cant find out until its too late. While I would love to non violently arrest the mentally ill, I also like going home safe. I have been stabbed at, had a shotgun put to mu chest by, hit in the head with a brick by, and hit in the shoulder with a ball bat by mentally ill people. I feel for you, but I aint going to let you kill me.

I never understood how dangerous the job of arresting the mentally ill was. I also didn't know that the mentally ill in crisis are hard to separate from drugged up people. I figured I had a info on my illnesses and history with any law enforcement agency. Thank you. This is an emotional blow though. The worst overuse of force was in a hospital though, not law enforcement.

The solution is to quit pushing the false narrative or buying into it.

But to get rid of the myth entirely would take getting rid of not just the Dems but their lockstep MSM and their academics and their glitterati as well, and that’s obviously not going to happen.
