We are all looking silly here. We have spent the day, me included, responding to this nonsensical thread by the unknown Zapata when there are threads of substance that should be discussed. So Wilson called Obama a liar. I suspect that 90% of those on this forum believe that Obama is a liar and that he lied repeatedly last night.

Has anything been accomplished other than the exchange of silly insults? This thread should die the death of neglect!
I second the motion.

So one instance of yelling two words - which happen to be true and on point - at an inappropriate time is a "classic symptom of TS"?

Dude, just let it go. You are really looking silly here.

No doubt but hey he is a victim and we have all lacked compassion.

In an earlier post I questioned your assertion above. I have just heard Niles Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation, who is from England, comment on Rep. Wilson [Neal Cavuto show]. He stated that the exchanges on the floor of the House of Commons is far worse than that by Rep. Wilson. That has been my impression from listening to the exchanges in the House of Commons. Therefore, your assertion that: "A British MP who called his/her head of state a liar would be suspended from Parliament." is apparently false.
No it's not: the one thing an MP is not allowed to do is to call a fellow-MP (including the Prime Minister) a liar - such actions will warrant immediate suspension by the Speaker. Niles Gardiner is mistaken.

Why now? Why not previously?

Congress didn't heckle Lyndon Johnson like that during the Vietnam War or Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. Congress didn't even show that kind of bitterness and aggression toward George W. Bush, who did lie -- specifically, about the intelligence that his administration relied on to justify an unnecessary war that has cost 4,300 American lives and enough money to fund Obama's health-care proposals for a decade.

Bush didn't lie about WMD. Bush was mistaken. Huge difference. The majority of the western world had the same intelligence Bush did. The "Bush lied" mantra needs to cease.

That said, Rep Wilson's outburst was rude and inappropriate.

I had intended to forego posting on this thread because it is nonsensical. However, CBT posted the above quote from the Washington Post which is a lie. President Bush did not lie about intelligence. The intelligence itself may have been faulty but repeating misinformation is not a lie. A lie is when you say something that you know is untrue. Obama does this routinely. You know that CBT and you should know that the Washington Post and the NY Times were treasonous in their release of classified information during the Bush Administration.

Joe Wilson, one Republican, blurted out to Obama "You Lie" which was the truth. Most democrats routinely accused President Bush of lying throughout most of his tenure.

So don't pull this "holier than thou" attitude CBT. You stand with the leftist democrats regardless of what that party of death does.

We are still looking silly here. I have just responded to a lying post by CBT which was totally unnecessary since everyone knew it was a lie including CBT. We are being jerked around by the unknown Zapata who I suspect is not who he claims to be. Just check post 18 and notice how he switches from good grammar to pidgin grammar. Proof enough! He has just started jerking around on the News Forum.

Has anything been accomplished on this thread than the exchange of silly insults and making whoever is pretending to be Zapata deliriously happy.? This thread should die the death of neglect tho I am not good at taking my on advice!

Would the "moderator" so contacted please verify this story?

If not, the troll is revealed.

Again you give only opinion and nothing to back up your poisonous spewing.

Sorry old man, but Wilson was wrong. I will claim he was simply ignorant of what is in the House Bill and not claim he is intentionally telling a lie.

THE FACTS: The House version of the health care bill explicitly prohibits spending any federal money to help illegal immigrants get health care coverage. Illegal immigrants could buy private health insurance, as many do now, and they could also buy into a new government-run insurance plan if Congress creates one. But unlike legal residents, they wouldn't get federal subsidies to help them. The bill's exact language: "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully in the United States." Health care legislation in the Senate is also being crafted to exclude illegal immigrants from coverage.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090910/ap_on_go_co/us_illegal_immigrants_fact_check

The best argument that we find that health reform would help illegal immigrants is that some might be able to purchase the public option — if it passes, and it might not — on the new health insurance exchange. They would purchase that at full cost. Obama’s said “the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally,” which Wilson said was a “lie.” Actually, Obama can make a pretty thorough case that reform doesn’t apply to those here illegally. We don’t find the public option argument enough to make the case that Obama “lied.” We rate Wilson’s statement False.
http://themoderatevoice.com/45907/polifact-truth-o-meter-joe-wilson-wrong-when-he-said-obama-lied/

But both of the major independent fact-checking outlets -- Politifact and Factcheck.org -- have said Obama's right about this.

The Republicans are right about one thing: Illegal immigrants would be eligible to participate in the insurance exchange the current proposals would set up. But that's just a marketplace where people and small businesses would be able to buy coverage -- it wouldn't actually provide any subsidies. And illegal immigrants can buy their own health insurance already.

There are more places to read this, but I believe you will see my point. Wilson was in error.

OldRegular, I'll accept an apology now.

More of your ignorance. What is your point?

And I would not want ANY congressperson to interrupt and heckle ANY president.

Again, just another of your personal attacks due to your unnatural attraction to me, I guess.

It is a legitimate question. Tourette's causes people to blurt out inappropriate things at the most inopportune time.

PS...another nice derail. Every thread is NOT about me curtis, despite your unprovoked stalking and attacking.

You seemed to think it fine when a shoe was thrown at Bush. See post #3 here.

Democracy is not about shouting down elected representatives either in town meetings or in the US House of Representatives. It is about thoughtful consideration of the issues, respectful debate and a fair vote. When we lose these aspects of democracy we have degenerated into anarchy.

Nope. Nowhere in that thread did I say it was fine. I said political dissent is part of a free society. I did not condone the throwing, but I did say I could understand an Iraqi being mad enough to do it after Bush had the US invade his nation. So don't misrepresent me.

In addition, this is a member of the United States Congress. If you have read everything I wrote, I would not have condoned a Democrat shouting down President Bush either.

Apples and oranges. It was a reporter who threw his shoes at Bush, not an elected representative. Do you know what happened to that reporter? Should the same be done ton Wilson?

It was not fine for the reporter to throw his shoes ... and it was improper for Wilson to shout an insult at the president ... any president.

He didn't shout an insult -- that would have been "You are a poopyhead."

He made an objective statement of propositional truth.

The only difference is that both of you hate Bush and love Obama.

I do not hate nor love either man. I do believe that Bush made many disasterous mistakes and have said so. I have posted things I liked about Bush. I remember one post listing 10 things I felt he did right.

Obama has been in office 200 days .. far too short to make a judgement yet.

I think 200 days is an adequate time to begin making judgements about a POTUS. That said, a few folks here started making judgements on day 1, some even before day 1.

I thought it was inappropriate, yet it does no doubt reflect a growing sentiment among frustrated members of both parties who feel the President is not listening to them. I find it as reprehensible as the way the left treated Bush.

That said, is anyone calling out Obama for calling folks liars?

Go ahead, partisan hacks on both sides - I've given you red meat. Take your swings now
