Now you are getting silly. Let me try and say this as clearly as possible for you.

I believe that if an enemy believes his comrades are being tortured by us, that it increases the likelihood that an American soldier if captured by that enemy, would then be subjected to even harsher treatment and torture.

Waterboarding is far more humane than sucking a fetus out of the womb piece by piece. Amazing how liberals think waterboarding is torture, and think nothing of human extrication limb by limb or burning by salt poison of innocent babies. Sad.

I agree! The baby is not even given a choice. Respect for human life begins with respect for God. At least most people will live after waterboarding just like most people live after being tasered.... but all it takes is once to indicate it may be lethal and to weigh this against whether a person is guilty or innocent.

I can just imagine: A suspect, hooked up to electrodes or being waterboarded; "Do you admit your participation in xyz?" "No, I did not." "What are the names of your co-conspirators?" "None!" Several increasing shocks or strangelation.... if water boarded and person is either exhausted or can take no more.... "Yes, tell me what you want me to say and I'll say it" or at this point say anything which he feels is pausible or may turn the heat on another, whether true or false, just to escape the torture..... even if only for a short while til it starts again. And I can imagine, how difficult it would be for a sensitive person to be in the position of administrating such pressure.... what an assault on their own sensibilities... or the cruelty of one who is hardened and enjoys his work to carry it beyond abuse.

Nothing in the Bible supports or encourages torture. Capital punishment was meant to be swift. Animals also were to be treated in a humane way. The only time God sanctioned killing as a command was in man's rebellion to God's law..... a law which was simple and easy enough to understand: and as a process of war and taking the land and purging it of idolaters and their spoils, or remnants who might rise again after several generations to inflict their bitterness upon the people of the land. Most cases of killing which we read about in the Bible, was done by man against man and did not carry the command of God to justify it.

Water boarding prisoners who have tried to kill Coalition Forces or plan attacks on America, pales, like comparing apples and oranges, in comparison to what these terrorists do to non-combatant forces. If anyone even thinks how we treat prisoners has any effect on how they treat our soldiers or civilians, for that matter, you are not facing the real world or what the enemy is capable of and it seems as if you truly believe these are rational people who can be talked out of attacks on us or on America.

Nehemiah is an excellent study, with a lot of economic lessons applicable today. The only sin I can find is his mocking of the Jews, but even that was provoked.

You are right. Nehemiah pulled the hair out due to the threat of the priestly lineage being contaminated by mixed marriage, not intelligence gathering.

Your entire arguement is based on "they do bad things, so we can do some bad things too!". I completely understand that there are terrorists out there that would love nothing more than to utterly destroy our country and hurt, maim, and kill as many of us as they can in the process. But, just because they are evil does not mean that we also should be evil.

I'm not one of those. I think we are a country that was founded as a Christian country. A large number of our current residents do not believe that and don't practice that, but it doesn't change how our nation was founded.

Oh, and by the way, the inmates at Gitmo get better treatment than the troops guarding them there, overall. They get 3 squares a day, special meals prepared according to islamic dietary laws, hot showers (our troops get cold ones), regular exercise, and live in a wonderful tropical climate by the seashore. I think the US treats our enemies rather well, better than most. So the water boarding is a non-issue, all things considered. Besides, when Obama gets done, they will probably mostly get to go free to go and plan more attacks on us. It's a wonderful life. Better than most of our homeless people have on the homeland.

As I've stated previously, if I had to choose one of the evils, I'd choose waterboarding. Abortion is a horrible practice and one that I fight against at every opportunity. That doesn't mean that I can't hate other evils as well.

Hey...if it was up to me, I'd put all prisoners in solitary confinement without any form of entertainment at all.
