No one is the ultimate arbitrar or authority on the subject. But Dr. has done his homework on the subject.
He knows more than most. He has debated a number of KJVO'ers --some several times.

You have his book(as I do) and are aware that he knows his stuff. I'd say he is an excellent evaluator of the subject.

He definitely is and I really appreciate his work but I don't think he has the final say on what KJVP or KJVO is as Evan is asserting. :) I'd say that John has a bit of wisdom in this realm too.

Oh, wait, so it's writing a book that qualifies one to be the authoritative definer of a subject? Wow, that's good to know! I'll go right now and write my book. (I guess it doesn't have to be a good and accurate book, just a book, right?)

Oh, wait, I did write a book on translation methodology for my students and for when I serve as a Bible translation consultant--but that's just in pdf form. But I have written and presented in conferences two academic papers on Bible translation. Do those things count? Huh? :Geek Did I pass your list of qualifications? Huh? Huh? :Geek

I will only answer this if you can find a definition of geek by someone who has written a book on the subject. :Coffee

    Don't be juvenile.

Really Evan, when you have translated and published the entire NT, when you have left all to go to the gentiles across the seas then your advice to JoJ might have some authority to bolster it.

Well, that would be logical. But the cultic sect of KJVO does not care what Greek is used becuase the KJV is the actual Word of God. As Peter Ruckman would say, the KJV corrects the Greek.

I do not believe that BJU is cultic KJVO, or even KJVO. But to those who are of thr cultic sect,....such has Ruckman, Riplinger, Anderson. They will look at the Greek, but what it says is not as important as what is in the KJV.

To believe that ANY translation can be used to "correct": the original languages texts is stupid and ignorant!

The part where you continue to disrespect the Baptist Board by refusing to proofread and correct your spelling, grammar, and formatting errors.

He's an odd bird, always urging Calvinist authors on people, but making a non-Calvinist his goto guy for evangelism.
The main conservative Japanese translation was done using the NASB principles and original texts, but was not translated from the NASB per se.

Our source text into Japanese was the TR, due to popular demand (my position is Byz. priority). As to what texts were the most difficult, in general it was Romans and Revelation. There were many specific texts that would take a whole book to explain.

Did you ever find any terms or concepts that were more easily translated from Greek to Japanese than they were from Greek to English?
