You might like this, it comes from a middle eastern recipe I make. heat your cast iron skillet in the oven till it's really hot, cut yur whole chicken down the back and open the chicken up. sprinkle with your seasonings and rub with olive oil. when the skillet is hot, quickly lay the chicken skin side down, and weight the chicken down, like with another cast iron skillet, I use 2 stacked to weight it down real good. Bake till done, it comes out cripsy and tender. excellent.
Oh yeah...that sounds very tasty. I will have to give that one a try. Thanks!

Tonight was barbeque pork ribs, prepared with a nice pork rub and some Stubbs Barbeque Sauce. Sides were mashed potatoes & gravy, and okra & tomatoes.

we've got church tonight, question and answer time for the potential new pastor, so we're having a quick and easy meal, bbq sandwich with baked beans and corn chips.

Melanie, there are various regional favorites and variations, and American cuisine is an amalgam from all over the world, as this is a nation of immigrants and their descendants. However, you could consider the following:

Chili dogs with mustard and onions, accompanies by a side of Fritos

Hamburgers and potato chips

Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy

Chicken-Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and cream gravy on both

Pot roast

Barbeque beef brisket, ribs, or Polish sausage

Let me know what time dinner is being served! :love2:

We've been doing WeightWatchers since the first of the year, so we have changed a lot of how we eat. We still have "the good stuff" every now and then (I got took out for some great barbeque for my birthday), but we have been substituting in healthier stuff where we can.

Since I have never learned how to grill, we cook most of our BBQ in the oven or in the crock pot. My wife fixes our burgers in her favorite iron skillet, though. :D I have made some turkey burgers that turned out great (here is the recipe... I double it).

As for what to feed the guys, start HERE for breakfast, and then check HERE, HERE, and HERE for dinner and supper (lunch and dinner to most people).

Trotter, we have switched everythng to healthy eating, no fired foods, no fatty meats, trim all fats from meats, no chicken skin on the meat, only the very leanest ground beef. It pays off.

Tonight we're grilling a whole chicken and will probably eat forever on it, we'll also grill some potatoes and have salad

This is not the right place to post this but here goes....

I have constant headaches which gets me down...I eat quite a bit of chocolate every day...any advice on weaning off chocolate in order to see if this is a cause of the headaches...:flower:

It probably is causing the headaches, chocolate contains caffeine, if your eating a lot of it, that's a lot of caffeine. Simply do not buy it, then you can not eat it.

Doh...How come a person can be so blind to the obvious...I had forgotten about the caffeine aspect:tonofbricks:
