The fact that you attended such nonsense demonstrates how you are without understanding.I used to attend the biggest Pentecostal church in London in the late 1980's, so know very well about all there is to know!

You cannot handle biblical teaching in most every area of study.like you on MOST things
Everyone who has tried to help you
The operative words in SBG's post are used to. He does not presently attend such a gathering. So, your comment is without merit. The fact that you attended such nonsense demonstrates how you are without understanding.
Hello Squire,The operative words in SBG's post are used to. He does not presently attend such a gathering. So, your comment is without merit.
Hello Squire,
I understand that he used to.
That is not the point I was making.
My focus is, attending such gatherings does not begin to give him any comprehension of cessationism which he disparages.
If he could articulate the position and did not hold it that would be one thing.
That does not seem to be the case.
Oh please!!! You are better than this.On what basis this event contrary to scripture ?
AN Angel has never appeared to a person and deliver the message?
I see. Like me many times, you were just too terse.Hello Squire,

It does not align with scripture. Paul says tongue speakers did not speak to men, but to God. Many miss this when trying to understand Acts.I would not dismiss the power of God to do as He pleases.
If the story was inconsistent with scripture, I would question it.
peace to you
Paul says tongue speakers did not speak to men, but to God. Many miss this when trying to understand Acts.
The Apostle Paul gave a list of gifts given by Holy Spirit in 1 Cor. These include tongues and miracles. It does not align with scripture. Paul says tongue speakers did not speak to men, but to God. Many miss this when trying to understand Acts.
Scripture replaced tongues. You have a false message today instead of the inspired message of scripture. Tongues were partial knowledge, scripture fully equips us.The Apostle Paul gave a list of gifts given by Holy Spirit in 1 Cor. These include tongues and miracles.
Personally, I believe Paul gives a strong argument against the use of tongues during worship. He limits the number (2 or 3) that speaks in tongues and only if someone interprets.
In the end, however, Paul allows for the possibility these were genuine manifestations of God Holy Spirit.
The purpose of tongues (Acts) is to proclaim the gospel in known languages but unknown to the speaker.
If someone tells a story that is consistent with that biblical standard, I don’t call him a liar, I praise God the gospel is being preached.
peace to you
If it is human language, why interpret it?like you do when you pluck a verse out of its context from 1 Corinthians 14! Read what Paul actually does say about "tongues"
If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God (27-28)
It is only when there is no one to interpret when a person speaks in "tongues", that the person speaking will be speaking to the Lord, Who gave the Gift. As in verse 13, "Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret."
Not sure why you see scripture in competition with Holy Spirit enabling the proclamation of the gospel.Scripture replaced tongues. You have a false message today instead of the inspired message of scripture. Tongues were partial knowledge, scripture fully equips us.

How is a false Word of Christ (today's tongues) not a false Christ? Jesus IS the Word of God.Not sure why you see scripture in competition with Holy Spirit enabling the proclamation of the gospel.
The gospel is being proclaimed. Rejoice!!!!!!
peace to you
I guess you need to define “today’s tongues”?How is a false Word of Christ (today's tongues) not a false Christ? Jesus IS the Word of God.
Why do you think it is tongues?I guess you need to define “today’s tongues”?
The OP is about the story of supernatural enabling of Holy Spirit to share the gospel in a known language, but unknown to the speaker.
peace to you
But Paul said they do not speak to men but to God. You have a false interpretation of Acts.because if I were in a place where I did not know the language, and the Lord wanted me to share the Gospel with the people, He would give me the understanding of their language for that time, to converse with them. This is what happened in Acts chapter 2, verse 11, "we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God", in languages that they did not learn, "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." verse 4. Our theology puts God into a box and tells Him what He can, and cannot do. I have a thread there on Gifts and Miracles in the early Church. You will note the words of Augustine, from his work, The City of God, where he fully supports these in the Church. In an earlier work he denied that this actually happened outside the New Testament.
If you accept the premise that revelation by angelic beings is still possible, on what basis do you conclude that it was not "another testament "Oh please!!! You are better than this.
The message delivered was contrary to scripture.
peace to you
