You mean, Tim, that grape juice can gladden the heart and help a person forget anguish?

I've really been missing something!

edit: HA! just started page 33. The moderators must truly be fascinated by this thread....

sigh....I have one everyday. I must be getting accustomed to it -- I just can't feel those effects. Maybe I should start taking two a day. Is it addictive?

Seems pretty clear cut to me...
When you call us fools, look what Jesus says about you...

Matthew 5:22
(22)
... but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Now that seems more dangerous than taking a sip of wine....

YOu are showing us that you believe you are better than us...

That is the sin of Pride.

When you said that only you and your wife are the only 2 here standing for truth... you lied.

Where exactly did i come out and call any of you fools, Tim. I only said some are acting foolish. And some, no, many are acting foolish when the receive not the clear command from God's Word to abstain from the alcoholic drink they so vehemently try to defend.

Proverbs 23:31 does not say after you have drunk some alcohol steer away from it... no, it says stay away from it altogether.

As I have said in the past, I will say again. I am afraid if the Lord Jesus Christ showed up on your doorstep with a Bible and showed you the same Scripture and told you it was a command to abstain, you would say He did not know the Word of God.

Standing -- I posted two passages which speak positively of wine and you ignored them both. I wonder why?
He never answers those type of verses Helen, unless it's with the non-alcohol wine bit. Grape juice makes your heart glad and helps you forget your anguish.

Hey there! Let's not go downtalking chocolate! That's its own food group!

Besides, and this is serious, tests have shown that chocolate has an antidepressant effect on people. It is also excellent for blood pressure -- probably the two are connected. Because we don't want the fat in chocolate bars I make chocolate syrup for Barry. One part Hershey's cocoa, one part water, two parts sugar. Bring to a boil and boil and stir for three minutes. Cool a bit. Add a bit of vanilla, stir, put in container with cover and refrigerate. It's thick like fudge syrup and really tastes great on ice cream, makes great hot cocoa and great chocolate milk, too.

But, I guess technically, it's a drug. We're in big trouble around here. Barry goes through a couple of cups of the stuff a week!

Helen, wine that makes glad the heart of man is not the same wine that God said was poison to man. It cannot be the same.

Alcohol is not given by God, it is made by men's hands. Through their devices of helping the fermentation process by adding spirits or yeast or sugars. It also has to be between 50° and 170° or the yeast is killed thererby preventing the fermentation process.

And if He showed up on your step and showed you the opposite, as it clearly states, you would argue.

Yeah, I know, Jerry. One of the passages was even from Proverbs -- the same book he keeps quoting. "Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish." I guess Standing figures that can't really mean what it says or that poor old King Lemuel was encouraging people to sin! Actually, my Bible says his mother taught him the sayings in Proverbs 31. What a bad mom!

If He showed up on my doorstep, He would thank me for preaching against that which bites like a serpent and stings like an adder. His Word commands abstinence. I am obeying His Word.

Oh baloney. It's the same wine, first of all. Or are you saying the beer is different, too? Amazing!

In addition, alcohol is a very natural result of many fruits. The yeast is present on their skins -- grapes in particular. Am I to believe you peel grapes before you eat them?

Perhaps the birds are sinning when they eat the fermenting pyracantha berries and get pretty loopy?

Beer was not around when Christ walked the earth Helen. You really ought to check those Bibles you read much more closely if they twist the Word of God that much.

The command against the Christian drinking alcohol is to the Christian... not to birds. My how people will reach to justify that which God condemns.

Deu 32:32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
Deu 32:33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

That's the poison verses I think you are talking about. Do a word study on the word THEIR. It's talking about a certain people, the people of Gomorrah, not all wine.
