When you call us fools, look what Jesus says about you...
Matthew 5:22
(22) ... but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Now that seems more dangerous than taking a sip of wine....
YOu are showing us that you believe you are better than us...
That is the sin of Pride.
When you said that only you and your wife are the only 2 here standing for truth... you lied.
He never answers those type of verses Helen, unless it's with the non-alcohol wine bit. Grape juice makes your heart glad and helps you forget your anguish.Helen said:Standing -- I posted two passages which speak positively of wine and you ignored them both. I wonder why?
And if He showed up on your step and showed you the opposite, as it clearly states, you would argue.standingfirminChrist said:As I have said in the past, I will say again. I am afraid if the Lord Jesus Christ showed up on your doorstep with a Bible and showed you the same Scripture and told you it was a command to abstain, you would say He did not know the Word of God.
I'll drink to that.JerryL said:And if He showed up on your step and showed you the opposite, as it clearly states, you would argue.

standingfirminChrist said:Helen, wine that makes glad the heart of man is not the same wine that God said was poison to man. It cannot be the same.
Alcohol is not given by God, it is made by men's hands. Through their devices of helping the fermentation process by adding spirits or yeast or sugars. It also has to be between 50° and 170° or the yeast is killed thererby preventing the fermentation process.
Helen said:Yeah, I know, Jerry. One of the passages was even from Proverbs -- the same book he keeps quoting. "Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish." I guess Standing figures that can't really mean what it says or that poor old King Lemuel was encouraging people to sin! Actually, my Bible says his mother taught him the sayings in Proverbs 31. What a bad mom!
Helen said:Oh baloney. It's the same wine, first of all. Or are you saying the beer is different, too? Amazing!
In addition, alcohol is a very natural result of many fruits. The yeast is present on their skins -- grapes in particular. Am I to believe you peel grapes before you eat them?
Perhaps the birds are sinning when they eat the fermenting pyracantha berries and get pretty loopy?
standingfirminChrist said:Beer was not around when Christ walked the earth Helen. You really ought to check those Bibles you read much more closely if they twist the Word of God that much.
Helen said:There you go again, Standing, not knowing what you are talking about. Beer was very much known about and made by the ancients:

When it speaks postively of Wine in the Bible.. it is really Grape Juice...
See that was simple, I learned something.
