Prolife myth

So where did this myth that prolife equals "lacking in compassion" and proabortion equals "caring for others" come from?

It brings to mind Isaiah 5:20

Perhaps because "pro-life" seems to , most of the time, be attached to mean , nasty personalities like the ones on this board who show no love for the living outside the womb. So it becomes awfully hard for anyone to believe that they are compassionate about life inside the womb.

People are turning to the pro-abortionists as "caring" because they come across as caring and wanting to help more than do the types I previously described.

It's a major fail on the part of Christians. POLITICS has stolen the ability of the church in many regards to effectively be able to minister to those considering abortion.

Maybe because of statements like:

 Yep. Confirmation of my previous statement.

If you're a young girl or an older woman trying to make this decision by yourself, the last thing you need to hear is how bad a person you are for considering an abortion. But to have someone equate you to a terrorist?

This just reinforces for me that for so many people , this is a political issue and nothing to do with "I love Jesus so all life is precious". If it were the latter, the compassion of Christ would be borne out.

But the only thing that comes across is the mean, nasty personalities that I mentioned earlier.

Christians need to keep their eyes on Christ. That is the only way that these perceptions are going to change.

I asked the question a long time ago. But why are we known by what we're against instead of Who we are for?

Why does everyone know that Christians are against abortion and same sex marriage and drinking and everything else we're against? But you rarely hear anybody saying " those Christians sure do know how to love people".

Examples ? Are you numbering yourself among them ? What do you know of how people treat others ?

It is nothing but political talking points by the left to include some on this board. No one actually believes it but they are trying to create this public perception.

I see Crabbie has at least one disciple!

So Crabbie has converted another!

Now if we could just get these three to go talk to the Islamic terrorist they have such regard for then perhaps they would succeed where Obama failed!

I heard on the radio this very morning that there are 4,000 abortions a day in this country.

4,000 abortions a DAY!

The attack on 9/11 happened once and we as a nation were traumatized for months (for some much longer).

But 4,000 abortions a day?

Meh... not so much.

Well said targus! Scripture has a way of getting to the truth.

My wife of 59 years and I were able to have only one child, now almost 56. We wanted more children and by the Grace of God were able to adopt a baby girl and baby boy. Our second daughter will be 50 this month; our son will be 46 this year. By the Grace of God we were able to adopt before seven black robed men made the slaughter of the unborn child acceptable to some and legal to all; but not acceptable in the sight of God.

Each of our children gave us two wonderful grandchildren. Grandchildren that made growing old much, much easier, even delightful. Now in the twilight of out lives our oldest granddaughter just presented us with twin great granddaughters for which we thank a most Merciful and Gracious God.

I think often of the two young women who gave birth to two of our children and gave them up for adoption. As I grew older I also began to think of the biological grandparents of two of our children but who never had the pleasure of knowing them.

I have strong feelings when it comes to abortion and those who justify this continual daughter of the unborn child and I make no apology for those feelings. Scripture tells me that God also hates this slaughter:

Proverbs 6:16-19
16. These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

And then that Scripture you remind us of, one I had forgotten!

Isaiah 5:20, 21
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

It is out of sight out of mind! But ~4000 each day is correct and beyond belief in a country where most profess to be followers of Jesus Christ!

I also have strong feelings when it comes to abortion. I think it is an evil that plagues our land. I am against abortion in any situation (even for the life of the mother and in cases of rape). I hold a very strong view in opposition to abortion.

I also hold a very strong view on murder of the already born. It is also an evil that plagues our land.

I view the murder of the already born and the murder of the unborn on equal ground. Both are evil and both need to be stopped. I view the Islamic terrorist the same as someone who aborts their child.

As you can see, my view is very consistent. It's your view that has holes in it and inconsistency.

War is hell for sure Crabbie but a person who supports the slaughter of the unborn is worse than the Islamic terrorists and deserving of worse condemnation than they are!

A post in which you responded as follows:

This is one of the more idiotic statements you have ever made. You have perfectly illustrated Crabby's characterization that you only care about life in the womb and not a thing for those that are already born.

So frankly "wade" what you think of me is irrelevant!

So, basically you have nothing of value to say, right? I don't fit the mold that you expect me to fit. I am strongly anti-abortion and you can't refute that. You attempted to characterize me as weak on abortion and that failed, so all you can do is say "I don't care what you think".

And for some reason you think it cute to call me "wade". That's fine, I'll just refer to you as "old" from now on. It fits you.

What you have are inconsistent feelings, that, the more you speak, the more it becomes evident it has nothing to do with God and everything to do with your politics and your feelings.

Life is life. If the unborn mean to you what you say, you'd esteem those outside the womb the same way.

You don't. So you and those like you become a running joke. YOU are the reason folks associate pro-life with lack of compassion and rightfully so because you show none for them.

Oh well, we're both just evil liberals that support the Democrats and abortionists because we don't think abortion is worse than the murder of the already born.

Also somehow Isaiah 5:20 ("Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!") also applies to us because by saying that we are adamantly anti-abortion we are somehow calling evil good (or good evil?).
