Have you been to the Catholic forums on CARM? It's pretty funny. That's their big thing, that they're so persecuted and mistreated, when they're the rudest and most obnoxious ones there.

 

Rome has always persewcuted the real Christians, both in and outside their church!

 

It is a formal excommunication. It formally separates one from the Church for grave sins against the faith, particularly apostasy, formal heresy and formal schism.

It is not a condemnation to hell, as no one can send anyone to hell save God Himself.

 

Don't believe that those are actual misconceptions. That's just what they try to make you believe.

 

I'd like to add to my list based on recent posts...

- That the Council of Trent condemned Protestants to hell
- That Catholics are sinister and their real motive to posting here is to try and deceive Protestants.


If you are interested, there is a great book written by Dr. Rodney Stark of Baylor University entitled "Bearing False Witness." The book seeks to dispel many lies perpetuated by Protestants throughout the past several centuries about the Catholic Church.

Dr. Stark is himself a Protestant and hence the charge of special pleading cannot be leveled against him.

There seems to be a miscommunication between what the RCC official doctrines and dogmas are, and what some of them posting here say there are!

 

And since salvation is found only in the true Church as per Rome.....

 

And yet we often get complaints because we will tell you Atheists, Buddhist and Muslims can be saved.

We don't believe Salvation is exclusively for Catholics only.

 

You allow for Jews and Muslims and other faiths to get saved due to their ignorance of RCC theology, but not us!

 

Whats the defense when its LET ME TELL YOU what YOU believe!?

I don't have to express what anyone believe in the WORST POSSIBLE LIGHT to disagree with what they teach.

I can have folks tell me what they believe, I can give my understanding, ALLOW IT TO BE CORRECTED to where we can both agree to it, as far as understanding. And I will disagree with what is taught if I feel its wrong.

Rarely does anyone disagree with what the Catholic church teaches.

What the Catholic Church teaches is SO RIGHT it requires misrepresentation to get any kind of foothold.

The problem is that Rome officially teaches heresy!

 

OF course I believe you can be saved. Part of being Catholic is we believe we are way more accountable. I got to answer for not setting a better example, or losing my cool. ESPECIALLY when I am in the right.

With God nothing is impossible. He can hold me accountable for the misbehavior of everyone on earth from ancient past to the future.`

The closer we get to God the more the responsibility and accountability starts to take a different form from just reward and consequences. It stops being about me and whats in it for me, We start to adopt God's love for all people. I can only win when you win.

Between us if there was only one seat to heaven. I'd have you tied up in that seat in a heartbeat.

I am saying that Rome officially teaches that while God can save those ignorant of catholic teachings and sincere in faith, no salvation for those who know and reject theology of Rome!

 

It teaches Love is the highest priority. GOD IS LOVE.

It teaches there is no reward greater then Loving God and Loving neighbor.
