The OP is about the supernatural enabling of Holy Spirit to proclaim the gospel in a known language, but unknown to the speaker.

That is consistent with the biblical accounts of “tongues” in Acts.

    peace to you

Paul said they did not speak to men. You are ill-informed.

I referred to Acts, not 1 Cor.

The account in the OP is consistent with Holy Spirit enabling of “tongues” found in the book of Acts.

    peace to you

    It's the same tongues.
“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” 1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV 1900)

Did you consider those who heard them in Acts also had the gift of interpretation?

I figured as much. Fortunately, this is not a "salvation" issue. While the Scriptures are inspired, our views and interpretations of them are not. I totally respect your views. Our unity is in Christ, not tongues.

and what does it say later in the chapter? as I have shown in #50 all you have done is take one verse out of its context

You don't know the half of it when it comes to today's tongues. From their roots in voodoo to their being learned from false teachers when in Acts they were spontaneous and the speakers knew what they were saying. Also, they only came through an Apostle's hands beyond the two outpourings.

as I have said earlier. In the mid-late 1980's I attended the largest Pentecostal Church in London, and know first hand of everything that there is to know. Like a small 5" woman who was demon possessed, and even 4 big men could not hold her down! After much prayer she was completely delivered by the Lord, and restored! I also witnessed first-hand, both genuine Gift of tongues, and fake; likewise with prophecy. Don't knock what you don't understand, or what your theology does not allow. Hence Paul warned, "So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues." (1 Cor. 14:39). for the naysayers!

They were casting out demons in Jesus' name long before Pentecostals surfaced. False gifts = false Christ. You cannot raise the dead or grow amputated limbs today. Only brag about what you heard. But never any evidence.

I really feel pity for those who are so desperate to LIMIT God's potential activities. :(
Hope y'all are never in a situation where He has to bail you out with something He can't/won't (???) do!!
My God is an awesome God that has limitless power, and I suspect that if you were ever in need of such, He would mercifully demonstrate that power for your sake.

You are arguing for the sake of it. If you care to read what I write you will see that it is not what I have heard about but actually SEEN. do you get the difference

What is the point? Since your theology prevents the Supernatural Working of the Holy Spirit

Many are healed from psychosomatic illnesses when their sins are forgiven. But try to raise the dead if the gifts are for today. Religious affiliation and psychiatric disorder among Protestant baby boomers - PubMed

Notice the high level of mental problems in Pentecostalism. I've never seen a Baptist go home after church and douse themselves with gasoline and light a match. But it happened not too long ago in a local Pentecostal church.
