I believe they'd still be saved if they were sincere in their requesting salvation and have shown signs of growth. I let the Holy Spirit sort it out...that's NOT my job...Nor do the verses say it's instantaneous. Get real.

Ok, do you have Scripture to support that position?

Nice defection...typical of a "REV" in my experience. You just can't seem to accept the fact that someone might have a different interpretation or understanding of Scripture than you....again...a typical attitude I'm finding in many preachers these days. Too bad they want to play the Holy Spirit instead of letting him do his own work.

Bub you don't know enough about me to make that determination. Anyway you haven't presented a different interpretation. You asserted a claim with no biblical support. I don't care what you believe but if you are going to engage in a discussion forum you should be able to back up your assertions. Anecdotal testimony is not that.

I think the same could be said of you. You've yet to prove that I am wrong in stating that those verses don't prove an instantaneous Lordship salvation. YOUR ASSERTION. Anecdotal or not I'm using the same Scripture. Get over yourself Mitchell

It does say you aren't saved without both of those things. So if you haven't done both, I wouldn't expect to wake up in Heaven when I die..

I gave two references. Romans 1:16 and Matthew 11:28-30. Salvation is through faith in the gospel of Christ. Confession is a work as is a sinner's prayer and believer's immersion. While there is nothing wrong with such works of faith, none of those things are required in order to be saved.
The spectrum of Christian understanding Biblical truth there are issues.

It's always a good idea to simply quote scripture to support one's position, isn't it?
(By the way, I'm being completely serious here. I do not wish to be misunderstood.)

Should People Ask Jesus Christ Into Their Lives???

It's bound to be better than asking him out of them.

That isn't what most people are referring to as "easy believism" and I think you're well aware of this. I'm not going to play semantics with you.

It is a false narrative and an attack on easy believism, faith plus what would be a supposed required prayer in order to be saved. It is not by any means an honest attack. Lordship salvation is the false teaching, Matthew 7:21-23.

Well...except when Satan quotes scripture. Sadly there are many false teachers who can quote a sentence or two, out of context, to conjure up a false teaching. This is why the Bereans were commended for searching the scriptures to determine if Paul was speaking truth.

How might a false teacher misuse this verse in isolation?

If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.”
    ~ Luke 4:7

There are people here on the BB who ignore context and quote isolated sentences as prooftext for a false doctrine. They do so without ever having to explain their understanding of a passage.

So, simply quoting scripture is not enough. Satan simply quotes scripture. Muslims and Mormons simply quote scripture.

    No.
No, and I know of nowhere in God's word where it is portrayed as such.
