If there were no Baptist churches...

Anglicans are all over the place, theologically. It might be possible to find one that leans Reformed.

If there were no Baptist churches...

The United Methodist Church is not in a good state. They are set to split at next General Conference, with Traditionalists going their own way.

If there were no Baptist churches...

Walter, I know you converted to Roman Catholicism. If you had not been able to do that, for whatever reason, do you think there is another church you could have settled on?

    Baptisms invalid

I've noticed that. Incredible, isn't it?

They either can't or won't answer that because they have no satisfactory answer. Paul also said that women should keep quiet in the church but also accepted women prophets. Another quandary -- but not for me. My goodness, I started this thread uncertain of my position. But all the posts...

    What other denominations

You make a good point. And that's happening right now all over Protestantism with the homosexual issue.

We made it. Thanks for the prayers!

I'm beginning to feel strongly about this issue. I believe I am mostly a Baptist in doctrine. But this may be one issue that keeps me out of a Baptist church. If I lived in a different part of the country, it would probably be different. But not where I live now.

That's apparently their argument. It doesn't hold up.

I have looked at scripture. And in doing so in context, considering all the relevant passages as a whole, and the inconsistencies of those opposed, I am just about convinced to affirm that God does indeed call women to be pastors. So, I have to thank those in opposition for helping to clarify...

I've noticed that the only way some can maintain their positions is to emphasize one part of scripture while ignoring other parts. That undermines their position.

If there were no Baptist churches...

I don't think I could, either. My former church taught that.

    Prayers

Prayers for safety requested. We are under a tornado watch till 6:00 PM. I don't have a storm shelter out here in the wilderness. Closest thing to it would be the gully across the road.

If there were no Baptist churches...

Because of the Calvinist doctrine, I assume. For me, it would probably be some form of Methodism. I would include Anglican in there, too, but they are mostly in cities, and cities are few and far between where I now live.

Well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and offer a truce.

I wish to say that this thread confirms my belief that "iron sharpens iron". I was undecided about the issue at the beginning. But the inconsistency of opponents to women pastors has pushed me toward affirming them. I am still considering the issue from the order of creation angle, as I believe...

I'm not appealing to denominational differences, I'm questioning them and how they relate to the question at hand. Your statements strongly imply -- actually more than imply -- that I am liberal and support homosexuality. Anyone who reads what you said can see that. If you say otherwise, you...

    Women pastors

Paul also places the same restriction on deacons as he does on pastors -- he says that deacons should be the husband of one wife. And yet there are female deacons in the NT. How do you male-only leadership folks handle that?

That's rich! So, I should take your word about my supposed misuse of those passages. Someone who has demonstrated comprehension and accuracy problems. See, you have confirmed again your confusion because I am undoubtedly on topic, or do I need to remind you again of what the topic was? I do...
