    I know what you mean. I currently use the NASB for reading and studying, but I use the ESV when reading aloud.

    I believe at least part of what we're seeing is the NKJV translators attempting to maintain the word order, sentence structure, grammar, and vocabulary of the KJV. And there is certainly nothing wrong with that, is there? :)

    I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the KJV is available in so many excellent print editions (especially within the premium Bible market). And I sincerely hope that remains the case for many years (and generations) to come.

    Overall, I would say (as a general principle) that just about any Bible translation that adheres to a philosophy of "formal equivalence" is going to fall into my column labeled "favorites."

    Yes, that aspect of the NASB 2020 is, indeed, a source of disappointment. However, still a solid, formal Bible translation, nevertheless, wouldn't you agree?

    I don't think it's the Greek Critical text being used as the main source that many of us find objectionable. It's the fact that the main text, so to speak, is so "functional."

    Good point. After all, prior to the publication of the New World Translation, the Jehovah's Witnesses, for instance, (basically) had no choice but to use the King James Version of the Bible, eh?

    I see what you're saying, but I believe that the 2020 edition of the NASB isn't as extreme.
