Using Wine in the Lord's Supper

Since we are commanded to not eat with a member who is under sanctions (1 Cor 5:11), how do you know that a stranger, who comes into your assembly, is in good standing with their church, or even if they are a member of a church, or have even made a profession of faith? To let someone partake of...

Using Wine in the Lord's Supper

In a case like that, we would announce that we practice closed communion and that only the members of our particular body were permitted to observe it. We are a very small congregation and the member serving the bread and wine would not offer it to the visitor. I know this may create a problem...

    Heb 10:25

Your friend is in rebellion against the Lord. 1 John 3:14 says, "We know we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death." His refusal to assemble with the brethren shows an absence of love for them. Failure to assemble with...

    Acts 10 - Cornelius - Question

Cornelius was not a lost alienated sinner but was a proselyte and already under the old covenant teachings. He already knew of the promises given to Abraham and his seed thru Isaac. He knew of the promise of Messiah and the baptism of John along with peace by Jesus Christ (Acts 10:34-43)...

Using Wine in the Lord's Supper

Our church has, to my knowledge, always used wine at the Lord's supper per the pattern of the original observance. We do not announce it as we practice closed communion and the members already know. We use a common cup and each member only takes a small drink.

Is the gospel necessary for salvation?

John 14:6 ...no man cometh unto the Father, but by ME. No man, zero, zilch, nada, none, no other way. The FATHER had ordained/established that the gospel/covenant of Christ was the only way to the Father. How could the Son, for whom the Father has ordained that all creation was made for his...

Is the Gospel given for our ETERNAL salvation?

Don't mean to go off track, but I thought Sproul was a presbyterian.

Is the gospel necessary for salvation?

Who are then the elect if they are different from the choosing?

Is the gospel necessary for salvation?

Brother Silverhair. Do you believe that Adam and Eve did not understand and see Christ and his kingdom in the sacrifice of the ram offered for them in Genesis 3:21. How could David be described as a man after God's own heart and not know the gospel of the kingdom? The scriptures tell us...

    1 John 5:10-11.

You fail to declare the full omniscience of God. Who established the future that God could look into it? Something not already established/predestined cannot be discerned. There cannot be prophesy without predestination. Predestination is an ordained work of God. He had no need to look into...

    1 John 5:10-11.

Jer 11:19 After I was turned (not I turned), I repented, and AFTER that, I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth. This verse parallels the example of the publican who went up to the temple to pray (along with the Pharisee) Luke...

    1 John 5:10-11.

Believing and the ability to believe, therefore choose is very much a part of the chapter. It is specifically declaring who is a true witness and is really in Christ. Verse 10 can also be interpreted, He that believeth (chooses. loves both the Father and the brethren) hath the witness in...

    1 John 5:10-11.

This topic seem to have problems based on the context of the words chosen and elect. Elect or election as a verb can mean to pick out or select or decide especially by preference. As nouns, they would be the object or the selecting or choosing. The same dictionary, American Heritage...

    1 John 5:10-11.

How does God know who will believe his Son? Who was his counsel that revealed it unto him?

    1 John 5:10-11.

Am I right to say you are saying they are two separate processes for the same people? Ephesians 1:4 says the elect and chosen are one and the same.

    1 John 5:10-11.

Who is the choosing in Ephesians 1:4 How do you think they are different from the election? Matt 13:20 does say for the elect's sake whom he hath chosen. This verse confirms that the elect are always chosen therefore one and the same. Or are you trying to say they are two different processes?

Without the general redemptton being true.

Deu 29:4 Yet the LORD HATH NOT GIVEN you a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day. Kinda leaves out man's ability to believe without the enabling work of God.

Without the general redemptton being true.

Are you calling general redemption the belief that Christ died for the world, yet only those believing will be saved? And if he died for the world, why did he not pray for the world? Jn 17:9
