God Wants to Deliver Us from the Evil Instrumental Music of This Present Evil World

Our pastor will not allow the rock beat to enter into our worship service, period. It doesn't happen overnight, it creeps in and he so to speak, nips it in the bud. If you like the different instruments then go for it, we will not allow that to become a problem in our Church.

God Wants to Deliver Us from the Evil Instrumental Music of This Present Evil World

What I'm saying that musicians express themselves through the instrument. If no instrument is there the expression is not there that represents the world.

Not if they're played by the bars in the hymnal book. Guitars and drums create a rock atmosphere in any case.

God Wants to Deliver Us from the Evil Instrumental Music of This Present Evil World

I can understand what you're saying by some instruments. Some whether intentional or not introduce a rock beat to the music. Our Church only uses a piano and organ, the rock producing instruments are not allowed.

    Dead in Sin

We won't agree on this, Ken, I'm not a Calvinist, but I do believe you are half right, if there is such a thing. Paul made it clear in Rom. 10:17 that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The faith to believe is in the hearing of the Word of God. It's from no other source but...

How many here hold to The doctrine of the perseverance of the saints

I can understand why a Calvinist believes salvation cannot be lost, from the beginning they believe God makes the choice. What I can't understand is the one who believes in free will to choose to believe the Gospel but yet once they believe they no longer have that free will to depart from the...

Christ the risen Saviour, not potential Saviour! 3

It's truly sad that he's so confused on the Atonement. You would think it nearly impossible for this to happen but the false teachings he has received knows no bounds.

    Did Iran kidnap Nancy Guthrie?

If it is true the Ayatollah is a dead man walking. That would be all that Trump needs to put an end to the worlds problems with Iran.

How many here hold to The doctrine of the perseverance of the saints

When we have the Lord's Supper quarterly (I think it should be more often) the Pastor reminds us it's time to checkup on the object of our faith. I believe this is what Paul was referring to when he said, "examine yourselves whether you be in the faith...."

How many here hold to The doctrine of the perseverance of the saints

They know what it means but don't want to admit it. That's ok with me, let them believe as they please. But they had better do some soul searching at Commuion to be sure their faith is in the Blood of Lamb. I"m afraid there will be some that will find themselves in the category Paul spoke...

How many here hold to The doctrine of the perseverance of the saints

There are several of these warnings in Scripture, another that comes to mind is Col. 1:21-23. There are many more if I were to track them down. "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death...

Do you believe the once saved can again be lost?

If their belief was not credited for righteousness what did they fall away from?

Do you believe the once saved can again be lost?

It seems to me that I read they believed for a while and fell away. Did I read that wrong?

Do you believe the once saved can again be lost?

Van, what do you make of what Christ said in Luke 8:13? "They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away."

Do you believe the once saved can again be lost?

Seems you don't want that responsibility, but you have it! Nothing to worry about if you keep a constant check on it. 2 Cor. 13:5 "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

    Having guilt and anxiety issues

Speaking from experience you have to let it go. Ask for forgiveness and He has promised He will give it. The apostle Paul told us we must forget those things in the past and move forward. If you don't you will never have complete joy in the Lord. Our attention must be on the future with...

Do you believe the once saved can again be lost?

@canadyjd You don't have to worry about having the resposibility of your own faith. Peter tells us in 2 Peter 1 how to keep from falling and asssures us in 1:10 "if we do these things we shall never fall." 2 Peter 1:10 "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and...

Do you believe the once saved can again be lost?

If you can't see that we can depart from the faith and it's only through our own faults that we do it, then go ahead and believe it.

Do you believe the once saved can again be lost?

This should scare the living daylights of us, to check up on our faith to ensure it's in Jesus Christ alone. Especially when the Scripture says, FEAR, lest you find yourselves coming short of it. Short of what? The faith in Jesus Christ that God demands for salvation.
