    "Country Preachers"

I agree. In this country we have that option, but in many third world countries they don't, so mentoring can be helpful, but there are far too few godly and educated men to help with that either.

    "Country Preachers"

Education by itself is meaningless. Godly men seeking training from other godly men. That's what I'm referring to.

    "Country Preachers"

You need to understand the first 39 books of the Bible to understand Revelation, not world news.

    "Country Preachers"

Yes, and the church should both confirm that calling and help with the training.

    "Country Preachers"

Depends on the church. Was it lead by a an untrained and self-appointed "prophet"?

    "Country Preachers"

They didn't figure out who Jesus was. It was revealed to them. Matthew 16:15-17 15“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed...

Total Inability in the Gospel of John

That should settle it, but I would bet good money that we will soon see a reply that simply repeats the same errors, over and over again.

Luther was on his way to becoming a lawyer, as well. The Apostle Paul was highly educated, and wrote things that the fisherman, Peter, found difficult to understand.

I did mention the understanding of the original languages. That would be a minimum standard, don't you think?

    "Country Preachers"

It is not what he said, and anyone can see that; however, he is saying that the experience of the Apostles is normative, so I challenged his idea. That's what you should have seen in my post, but that would require some thought, rather than firing off a response without much.

    "Country Preachers"

Training isn't necessary for one of the most important jobs on Earth?! Ditch diggers and grocery baggers are trained more than some "pastors". This is why we have so many cults and sects.

So, you believe we are still in the Apostolic Age? Have you raised the dead with your shadow lately?

SDA and the heresy on hell

The SDA isn't a Christian denomination, firstly. Some might argue that it's a sect, at best, but I again would agree with Hoekema's assessment of it. Secondly, large numbers does not the truth make, for instance, Islam is growing rapidly too. . .

SDA and the heresy on hell

The hundreds of comments below this video tell of the cultish atmosphere in the SDA from people who were once deceived. Great testimony of God's saving grace.

SDA and the heresy on hell

This might be helpful to some: How to Leave the Seventh Day Adventist Church - Leaving SDA It's a support site for those who wish to leave SDA. Now, as far as I know, there are no support sites for helping someone leave the SBA or the PCA. Why? Because the only people who need assistance and...

SDA and the heresy on hell

I was actually trying to frame that with the most positive spin I could manage. Anthony Hoekema said that the SDA is a cult and belongs grouped with JW's, Mormons, and Christian Science. I think he makes a valid argument.

SDA and the heresy on hell

SDA doctrine denies the gospel of grace in favor of one of self-salvation, so we should expect it to be in error in other areas of doctrine and practice as well.

    women preachers/pastors....biblical or not?

Nice quote. It doesn't address the issue of female pastor; however, the Bible clearly does.
