God loves you: The Message to the world

No "sinners" are "in Christ". Those who are "in Christ" are not sinners.

Calvinism is a combination of Theological Fatalism and Determinism, or is it?

The two responses thus far have demonstrated that neither your detractors...nor the ones they are citing...have any real clue what either word means, nor what their own Theology boils down to...it's rather humorous IMO. Here's one example: LOL...and when they can describe to us, how God's...

Who's to say that one is not a Baptist?

And....then Thomas is absolutely right....and Mr. Strobel....(so-called) was therefore either ignorant or lying if he identified himself as a "quasi-Baptist"....It may then be the case that (at leat as modern parlance is concerned)....that self-identification as a "Baptist" should be...

    Emotional or Exegetical?

Here is my bet.......You have never read one word from Pelagius himself...You posses, in your library, not one word, nor book, nor commentary that Pelagius himself actually wrote. You have never read one whit what Pelagius said in his own words, and from his own mouth.....Until you can...

    Emotional or Exegetical?

Let us never deceive ourselves....your opinions are no more "humble" than mine are, or Winman's. You lie to yourself, as do I.

    Emotional or Exegetical?

Mex...you are a nice poster...and I generally love your irenic posting, but, I am sorry, you are either NOT REALLY the Calvinist that you think you are, or your emotively passionate post here is somewhat dis-ingenuous in that it reeks of Arminianism not Calvinism. Your post is simply not at all...

    Emotional or Exegetical?

I was actually thrilled that Luke opened up this particular can...because I think it is worthy of discussion....I will, point by point, respond to where I think he is absolutely correct (and he is on many levels IMO) and then suggest some counter-arguments:

Who's to say that one is not a Baptist?

Yes, of course, and I get the joke...but when he said: I actually meant to say that I do truly believe that. He might have been being facetious. (I don't really know M.W's views on ecclesiology that well). I am not. I truly do ostensibly believe that Paul was a "Baptist". That is of...

    America: Founded on Christian Principles?

As a Christian "Nation"? Not really...not specifically. On Christian "Principles"? Absolutely. In a way, so were their European Forebears, but what made the U.S. unique from them was not Christian Principles per se, but their Political Philosophy (yes they are almost always interrelated)...

God loves you: The Message to the world

Demonstrating that God is a God of wrath does not also mean He does not love even the very objects of his wrath....Dr. Jeremiah covers this in the portion cited in the OP: Wrath and Love are not either/or's

Is total depravity different than utter depravity?

That is true...it does not mean that necessarily, but it appears to me, that the H.S. always appeared or "came upon" and then left...that the permanent "indwelling" of the Holy Spirit is a New Testament phenomenon. I too would like to learn more about it. What do you think of that book so far?

    Emotional or Exegetical?

Yes...Only I try, and the author of the article (though it is rather hard-hitting) tried to be irenic about it....He attempted to say that "Calvinism" sort of does that..not "Calvinists". He tried to re-word it a little on his blog which is linked to at the bottom of that page. From the...

Is total depravity different than utter depravity?

The Holy Spirit did not permanently indwell anyone in the OT...The H.S. would come upon them, and then depart...moreover, as Winman said, this is usually in connection with Prophecying. Saul WAS a prophet, in that when the Spirit did "come", he prophesied. 1Sa 10:11 And it came to pass...

    Help me to understand.

Sure there is....zero, If you actually study and understand the text (it takes a little bit of work) You know they were created on the same day...along with all of the animals (land) as well, God also planted the garden of Eden and placed the man in it on that day, he also re-demonstrated the...

    Forced to serve?

While I would not agree with a policy which requires that they work specifically in Children's Ministry, because of possessing talents best used elsewhere and what-not...I truly like the idea of requiring people to serve in order to be served...Church members, are simply rarely the co-labourers...
