A date with Molina... date #2 - A rose by any other name...

It wouldn't be...well more accurately he uses "Middle Knowledge" to do that. That is what it seeks to explain; in the Molinist view man truly is...in an ontologically real sense....a free moral agent with the power of contrary choice. Man is a truly moral agent, in the same way he is in...

A date with Molina... date #1

I think the average Molinist would say that God actualized this particular world because it was the one that best suited his purpose, that being it most likely had/has the maximal number...or more likely...ratio of those who would freely accept him: God, desiring that as few as possible would...

A date with Molina... date #1

I do not know what you mean....were you asking why this particular world? I don't understand how any soteriological theory has or must have a fundamentally different view about why God created the world.

A date with Molina... date #1

The same reason anyone else might believe the purpose of creating the world is. To bring himself glory....to fellowship with beings created in his image, because he is love, and by nature he wants to share his love with beings who benefit from it et. al. A Molinist doesn't have any different...

A date with Molina... date #1

Only prior to the creative act....It is essentially pointless afterwards, after the creative act...It is His Free Knowledge that results in exhaustive foreknowledge.

    Resisting the grace of God?

Couldn't agree more... :wavey::smilewinkgrin: Note: In Paul's defense before Agrippa, he says "believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest." Agrippa replies: "Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian". I think this would fall under a similar category. To believe...

    Open theism and the atonement

This is a NECESSARILY true statement!!

    Open theism and the atonement

I think (via previous conversation) that I know what you mean.....but defined this way...so dysphemistically....I am not sure I know how to respond.....I am aware of the "grounding objection" which is the only signifigant objection to the "Middle Knowledge" point of view that I am aware...

    Young Earth vs. Old Earth

"Reshith" you keep using that word....have I missed something??.....(perhaps I have)....but isn't the word used in Genesis 1 "Yom"

    Open theism and the atonement

You are very dogmatic, overconfident, and insulting. I didn't present the WHOLE of all that I believe because this is about Open Theism, not Molinism...but the very crux of where I think OT goes wrong, I did mention...I only wanted to point our that I feel that OT and Calvinism...indeed...

    Life Elsewhere in the Universe

While Earth, and subsequently mankind does indeed seem to occupy a unique and special place in the intentions of God...We are assuming too much to say that it is impossible that God has created life or other forms of life other than that which he has created here. If he did create others, I...

    Life Elsewhere in the Universe

Great post question!!!!!:wavey::thumbsup::tongue3: This is a fascinating question!!! not easily known or understood....if we take the whole of the Biblical account into consideration, and yet, admittedly use our imaginations a little about how God's essential nature is revealed....here is my...

    Young Earth vs. Old Earth

Usually, this is called "double-speak" not "double-talk" but nonetheless....I assume you are attempting to convey that I have contradicted myself (that is what double-speak is)....I would ask you to simply quote copy and paste the contradiction I posted, and I will recant....Just read the...

    Young Earth vs. Old Earth

YOU may be hard-pressed to find one, but, this took me about 45 seconds.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwA7bvco7ow&feature=related A particular, and very correct....statement, belabored by the expert I cited above: a correct little factoid that his superior brain uses to make us...

    Young Earth vs. Old Earth

Certainly. you are correct...but I think no one is suggesting that....God has revealed himself to mankind through more than the Scriptures alone, See Romans 1, according to which, Nature alone is enough to condemn men. That is a powerful statement...If nature is adequate revelation to render...

    Ethics Question

John: I would like to have you comment on this...how would you describe this situation.....Was Corrie's sister the more righteous one? noun 1. a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood. 2. something intended or serving to convey a...

    Open theism and the atonement

Van: I agree completely....You don't have a clue what I believe, or what most Molinists believe obviously....I have only challenged fundamentally one assumption of yours...and I don't know if you could name what that assertion is. O.K. obviously this is a passage, that given your point...

Former coach of the year fired from Christian school for out-of-wedlock pregnancy

I would say that you are viewing this from the lense of a local Church body in lieu of simply that of a school. You are quite right that, speaking of a Chuch, it would be most incumbent to seek to lead her to repentance and restoration...as a school, however, they have a different mission as it...

    Young Earth vs. Old Earth

:applause::thumbs: Nor would I!!! Haven: He illustrates a difficult and Biblical concept to people using analogies that they can relate to....How is this a problem??? The difference between WLC and those who attack him for that, is that when pressed with hard questions..... like what the...

Former coach of the year fired from Christian school for out-of-wedlock pregnancy

Less signifigant?....no, of course not, and I think you know I don't think that. Attempting to make comparisons as you are, however is invalid...What I am saying is that you imply/seem to believe that adultery or fornication is less signifigant, it is not..it is neither/nor. As far as God is...
