"Draw" in Jn 6:44--What does it mean in your opinion???

    Yes......... (noticing a pattern?)

Let's discuss the differing views of Biblical Election

Whose numbering them? Scripture refers to the 'few' who find it and the 'few' chosen, so why can't I? I never claim to know how many the 'few' are and I've repeatedly admitted it was still many people, but a relative few compared to those lost. Its fine in disagree with my soteriology, but...

Let's discuss the differing views of Biblical Election

ad hominem Wrong question. If your consistent with the context the question would be, "Why does this dog meow and that one doesn't..." or "Why does this lost depraved sinner believe and that one doesn't." Ok, but that doesn't change anything. We would still all be born 'cats' and the...

For the Calvinists: What are Key Points of Calvin's Theology beyond TULIP?

Outward means (big fish, blinding lights, gospel, envy, signs etc) affect us inwardly too, Dude. Jesus said, "I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. 13 "Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had...

The LILAC of Arminian and Non-Cal Theology

I can't imagine any Christian in their right minds who think we are reconciling OURSELVES. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of...

The LILAC of Arminian and Non-Cal Theology

But my point is that they aren't seeking God without God's initiative. And since God has taken the initiative to reveal himself through nature, conscience, law, prophets, His Son, Apostles, scripture and His Spirit how can anyone conclude that man would seek God on his own initiative? IOW...

The LILAC of Arminian and Non-Cal Theology

Sorry, like I said, "I can't speak for him..." :saint: This is why I simply asked glf to credit other's quotes. It's not that difficult. :type:

The LILAC of Arminian and Non-Cal Theology

And when you link to the post that claims men are born good and that they seek God on their own then I'll be glad to rebuke it along with you.... Just because someone defines men's sin nature differently than you do doesn't mean they hold to the 'essential elements' of Pelagianism.

The LILAC of Arminian and Non-Cal Theology

We do believe he has the final call. He called us to repentance and faith. We are RESPONSE-ABLE to RESPOND to His call and are held to account for that response. It doesn't have to be all that complicated.

"Draw" in Jn 6:44--What does it mean in your opinion???

Then you don't believe in Total Depravity as it is taught by Calvinism, because they wouldn't affirm that the initial calling would cause men to feel a need.

"Draw" in Jn 6:44--What does it mean in your opinion???

Webdog, don't you know that if someone can reject your gift then you really didn't offer it to them, and if they accept it then it must mean they really gave it to themselves. Everyone knows that.

"Draw" in Jn 6:44--What does it mean in your opinion???

With all due respect, this doesn't answer the question, it only affirms the apparent contradiction that there is the need to blind those who were born totally blind according to Calvinism.

The LILAC of Arminian and Non-Cal Theology

:thumbs: And when Glf actually links to the context of quotes I may take the time to engage. Just as different Calvinists here represent their view in various ways (some of which come across more 'hyper' or like a 'hard determinist' than others), so too there are non-Cals here who...

Let's discuss the differing views of Biblical Election

I wouldn't use the word force, anymore so than a Calvinist would in regard to the will of man. Someone being 'judicially hardened' is merely being blinded from the truth so that they will continue to do what they want. Blinding them temporarily is like when a cop hides his presence to ensure...

Let's discuss the differing views of Biblical Election

And why do they love the darkness while you don't? BECAUSE GOD CHOSE YOU INSTEAD OF THEM! You can't get around it Aaron, you are just playing with semantics to try and avoid the obvious conclusions. There is nothing inaccurate with the term "preselected few" in describing Calvinistic...

For the Calvinists: What are Key Points of Calvin's Theology beyond TULIP?

I hear munching, is that you eating pop corn or your brain engaging? ;) Incorrect. I said, and I quote verbatim (something you should try), "I think it is a mistake to presume God is somehow inwardly manipulating the nature and desires of man to casually determine their choices. He could, no...

The LILAC of Arminian and Non-Cal Theology

Right. Men's inability is not due to some kind of inborn restraint to hear and respond to the gospel appeal, otherwise why even make the appeal to begin with? Just regenerate and inform, no reason to 'make an appeal.' In our view, the appeal itself is gracious and powerful. It informs the...
