Where did you go to college?

Better to start its own thread for this one. I know many here swear by SBTS. But I'm kinda partial to SEBTS. I've got Drs. Black & Robinson this fall & cannot wait! They are some of the best Greek & Textual Critic scholars around. PS - I'm seriously considering SBTS for my PhD (among 2...

    Master of Theology from SBTS

That is why I am doing some MDiv leveling classes (4 of them). I also did some post-grad studies as well, so that factored into my ThM status. Ultimately, my biggest problem was undergrad stuff & poor accreditation. I did most of my Greek at the undergrad level. And I went to a TRACS school...

    Master of Theology from SBTS

Some people get a ThM to prep for a PhD b/c they went with the BA & MA in Bib Studies route and don't want to bother with the MDiv :D ;) :D

    Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary

Rhet, You are clearly the local expert on MABTS. Let me get your opinion. I can figure out for myself the advantages of SBTS over MABTS (specifically PhD program). However, if you theoretically were promoting MABTS (honestly of course), what would you tell me if I asked about what MABTS can...

    Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary

What do you folks know about this school? It's SACS accredited and seems to be a SBC seminary run at the state level (not sure though). Adrian Rogers thought it worthy enough to provide the school w/ the property for their new campus. They look like they have a beautiful campus and a decent...

The Theological Mix of "God and Country"?

This is counter to the American idealogoy of freedom. If this person decides not to take part in the pledge of allegiance, that is his free choice to do so. Who are you to tell him he should leave the country for not meeting your ideal of national pride? I have a similar conviction against...

The Theological Mix of "God and Country"?

America is hardly the Theocracy of Christ's future Kingdom, so that parallel is not a good one. I'll mix country with Christianity in America when God is the King here. But I don't ever foresee that happening.

    How did you know?

I've been putting this post off, but I think it is commons sense so... Do you have to go into ministry to learn the Word of God? If you feel called to increase your knowledge in the Word (I think I read that somewhere ;)) then go anyways. It can't hurt.

The Theological Mix of "God and Country"?

I guess I strongly disagree w/ Billy Sunday. Different time, different era, different perspective though.

The Theological Mix of "God and Country"?

Praise the Lord for that quotation... wish I would've thought of it!

ONE FOR THE RECORD, Trust me on this one!!!

I really have no words that adequately express my feelings right now (notice how I go on and try though ). I am shocked. But actually, I am shocked that I am schocked. This was California and this was the UMC's. Why should we be surprised? But hey, it will make for a good sermon...

    Too many PhD's & ThD's???

You make a great point. I pastor as well, but through many forms (including confirmation from men I greatly admire) of confirmation, I feel God would have me to serve Him in an academic setting. And trust me, you don't know how inadequate I feel about that. But I'm not just posting about...
