    Romans 3:23-5:1 debate

I can't engage unless you drop #1, #2, and #3 of your pre-conditions, otherwise we are just engaging in an utterly sterile exercise of brutally prising a Scripture out of its context with the grave danger of leading us down the wrong epistemological path. "A text without a context is a pre-text...

Anybody else shook up from the earthquake in Virginia today?

Doubtless Pat Robertson will think it's because people are being at least slightly homos*xual on the East Coast. We don't have earthquakes in the UK which means we can't be as naughty as y'all, eh, Pat?

Unions, have they overstayed their welcome?

What sanctions have the Board got if the employer rejects their arbitration or fails to comply? Plus, how is it funded?

Unions, have they overstayed their welcome?

What alternative would anti-unioners here propose to protect the rights, bargaining power and safety of blue-collar workers against powerful bosses?

[Borat voice] I like! [/Borat voice]

    Drinking Alcohol

Hmmm...I detect at least an implied judgement on the rest of us who do imbibe with which I'm not totally happy. Imagine if I said "I drink wine with my main meal of the day because it is the civilised thing to do"; that would likewise imply that I think those who don't are in some way rather...

VERY Limited Atonement: Christ died for Paul

See my post on the previous page: we define the sacraments as a means of communicating sanctifying, not saving faith, much as we view reading the Bible, prayer etc in the same way.

    'On' wine? Now that's clever!

VERY Limited Atonement: Christ died for Paul

I addressed your points re the NT Canon. No mention of 'Rome'; that straw man was introduced by you. Your own post just now does not refute the points made by me so I'll assume you're letting them stand. Threads here have a habit of evolving from their OPs. To answer your final point, my own...

Nah. It's because Obama went for a bike ride.

'Son of Sam' Serial Killer David Berkowitz Says He Won't Seek Parole in 2012 Read mo

Good for him. So many times I see convicts flaunt their faith with, one suspects, at least half an eye cocked towards the parole board, but this guy is different and I believe he's the genuine article.

VERY Limited Atonement: Christ died for Paul

I note you fail to address any of the points raised which strongly suggests that you are unable to; resorting to insults is the refuge of the man with no argument.

The Vicar does attend; he normally manages to time his appearance at the pub when someone else is buying a round...

VERY Limited Atonement: Christ died for Paul

Dr Walter, I fear it is you who is propogating historical revisionism here. I hope you don't also believe in the other nonsenses of Landmarkism, such as the Cathars being secret Baptists; I assume that the 'Dr' title credits you with more intelligence than to fall for that heresy. Your...

    Drinking Alcohol

Yes. Gin and tonic with my wife before an important meal plus a glass of wine with it. A couple of beers (real ale, that is, not the fizzy lager you call 'beer') at the pub with friends from church once a month.

VERY Limited Atonement: Christ died for Paul

A sacrament can operate as a vehicle for grace, yes. Certainly sanctifying grace. As can reading the Bible, prayer, giving glory to God, praise and worship etc. What's your problem with that?

    U.S. and Israel

Easy. Ever heard of the Khazars? That's your starter for ten.

London riots and angry youth: a speech

c 3000 arrests and counting. I have to admit that my initial reaction was similar to that of Freeatlast, particularly as my wife's family lives in Croydon, one of the London boroughs trashed by these goons. But my inner Christian prevailed....;)
