    Who is a Calvinist?

Two issues you have here: 1. The first problem is this is about ones role to judge, not character. 2. The second is that you selected a conditional statement. We can (and do) judge others… the problem is that we are corrupt and so are guilty ourselves. God also judges others, and He is perfect...

    Who is a Calvinist?

To confirm then, you believe that God works all things after the counsel of His will, from the foundation of the world, including that His predestined plan is that people would be on the Wide Path to destruction. I still can’t reconcile your idea of Sovereignty with your claims of free...

    Who is a Calvinist?

According to Calvinist Soteriology they are not. However, I have read through the early church father writings, and every one of the works that I have read indicate they supported Synergism of one sort of another, but not Monergism. Corporate Election is another view that although it is not...

    Who is a Calvinist?

Regarding the Good Samaritan: 1. Are you suggesting that God would not hold Himself to the standard that He holds men to? Are we not to reflect God’s character, and isn’t this story to teach us to act as God would act? 2. If there is an example of salvation that you would prefer to discuss...

    Who is a Calvinist?

Thank you for this. Since I have a moment, I just want to clarify something that you did not answer. Ephesians 1:10b-11 says: Do you believe that God works all things after the counsel of His will? Do you believe that people on the wide path are worked there according to the counsel of God’s...

    Grace and Peace to you!

I certainly will! I have just taught through Philemon and Colossians and am starting Ephesians in about 6 weeks… so many things on the corporate body of Christ, being in Christ, and the love of God that are brewing in my mind at the moment :D

    Who is a Calvinist?

So you believe that this is a choice and God did not Sovereignly determine that they would be on the wide path? Is He not in control of that choice? My understanding is that Calvinist’s believe God controls all things, in their understanding of Ephesians 1:11. Do you take this understanding...

    Faith # 5

I just explained how you have wrongly interpreted the english due to an error of not understanding the greak. Your point about faith being from God may be correct, but Ephesians 2 does not say so. In fact it cant say so. The greek requires the opposite of what you conclude.

    Grace and Peace to you!

Thanks! With the general message of John 17:20-26 and esp 21, 22, and 26 I could see what you are saying but would need to look more into it. John has a lot of stuff lime what you point out!

    Who is a Calvinist?

In regards to the OP: I know from my perspective that there are other paths to walk when looking at how God exerts His power and how salvation is accomplished. 1. Synergism 2. Corporate view of election and predestination 3. And others Arminianism came out of Calvinism and many find things like...

    Grace and Peace to you!

Hey there, New member here. I’m a teacher at our church (independent bible church). Figured it would be good to have a forum to bounce ideas around, and habe more iron around to sharpen my iron around doctrine, teaching, and scripture. Thanks for having me!

    Faith # 5

You post a lot of scripture, but it is never in context, or exegited. You have misunderstood both the greek and Paul. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. — Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB95...

For KevinThrowe and others lurking who may believe him.....

It is hard to know what this person believes just from reading your paraphrase. We should not forget the thief on the cross in Luke 23:42-43: And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!” And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”...

    Who is a Calvinist?

The gospel in/of Calvinism is hopelessness to many, on that construct. It is also devoid of a God who loves His enemies and is unwilling to meet His own definition of love in 1 Cor 13 and Luke 10.
