I guess your version of "keepers at home" means on a wants vs needs basis?Really? And you know that "most of these men's wives are at work supporting their [tails]" how, exactly?
Don't get me wrong, I believe it's biblical that men should be the ones responsible for financially providing for their home, but that doesn't mean that women are forbidden from working. It just means that it's not the woman's prime family responsibility to do so. Nor does it mean that, just because a woman works, that she's "supporting" her husband, or that the husband is failing in that responsibility somehow. There's nothing scripturally wrong with a woman working, so long as that does not adversely affect the home spiritually.
Then why did the Apostles do just that? And they did it under inspiration on top of all that.:smilewinkgrin:Now, getting back to the OP post, standing up for women is something that all men everywhere should be doing. Trying to "put women in their place", otoh, is something that no man has the authority to do.
Well, although you jumped to a conclusion, my wife is right now napping after doing about 6 hours in the home. She ate the grapes and decided it would be nice to just go lie down.:sleeping_2:The women that I know, personally, whom God has not called to a profession, do not sit on a chaise lounge or any other type of cushiony seat. They work very, very, very hard. And their husbands do to.
The women that I know, personally, whom God has called to be nurses, teachers, fireman, and parole officers, are not supporting their husbands nor working to have more "things". Their husbands work hard and the wives are in the professional fields that they are in by God's calling on their lives.

Just keep on doing exactly what you're doing, you won't regret it and odds show he will. This is a problem I have with my Pastor. He makes a great salary ($90k) annually. Though he sees that even though he has children that its necissary for his wife to work. I have four children and make less than he which I find is ok but my wife and I agreed that we would do with out to raise our children using the scriptures template. She's at home and I work. We do without certain nice things but our kids get the benefit of a continual parent at home. Which I think is the way God wants it. Its disturbing that during tithes sermons and financial seminars its encouraged to have two sources of incomes. I'm becoming very perplexed.
"My version" of the phrase is scripturally consistent. You have a problem with that.I guess your version of "keepers at home" means on a wants vs needs basis?
They didn't. As previously noted, Paul was not dictating how we are to behave familially. His admonition was against younger women usurping rulership in the house of God.Then why did the Apostles do just that?
Oh? I thought it was the fact women are known to be much more tedious in matters of cleanliness than men.All due respects to you and johnv, but the apostles did not dictate on how they are to behave familially.
The restriction is against women taking up rulership in the house of God.
Sure it is, that's why we don't see you telling anyone what it is. That leaves us no other conclusion that your bible exists in the figment of your imagination."My version" of the phrase is scripturally consistent. You have a problem with that.
You're kidding, aren't you?I thought it was the fact women are known to be much more tedious in matters of cleanliness than men.
Oh? So in your opinion it is derailing a thread because I don't behave as the one who is guilty of the things in your inflammatory thread? That's YOUR problem. Don't derail the thread.
No. Let a woman know well in advance company is coming. She'll thank you and watch her go!You're kidding, aren't you?
Thanks for identifying yourself for us all. This is a compare and contrast thread. On one hand you have the bed wetting liberal baptist and on the other you have the insulting, in your face, judgmental pharisee baptist.
Wow, I called some men a lizard and you called sag an ape!![]()
can you elucidate this for this poor simian ?
thank you.
Maybe he shouldn't be living so "high on the hog"?My Pastor is having problems with his mortgage pmt. And so when I hear sermons with regard to the tithe I become skeptical.
No. Let a woman know well in advance company is coming. She'll thank you and watch her go!
Let her know about 5 minutes before company is supposed to arrive and she'll move faster, but she's gritting her teeth and waiting for the next chance to let you have it.
Let a man know he's got company coming and he's stuffing things down into the couch.
I know what your problem is now, you really do think you're part of the "Q" (too much Star Trek, The Next Generation)
The fact that you expect this of her says a lot about you. Sad. Sadder even more than you would disparage other husbands so.Let a woman know well in advance company is coming. She'll thank you and watch her go!... Let a man know he's got company coming and he's stuffing things down into the couch.

Hmmm - that's quite a bit of stereotyping, isn't it??
I know some women who wouldn't care what their house looked like but they would be at the door welcoming anyone who crossed the threshold. I also know many men who are better hosts than women are! But that's about natural inclinations and "bents". That's not about role.
But then again, a good home is run so that no warning is needed. That's how I try to deal with it here. Yeah, we're not always clean and perfect but I'm about people, not dust bunnies.Stop by my house anytime and I won't look to let anyone have it. It's not just my home but my husband's. Why should he be punished for not "warning" me? That makes NO sense.
I'm just dying for PW to chime in on the KJVWOW.. Just WOW.. Amazing that this thinking still exists~!
no, no, paul, you got it all wrong.Wow, I called some men a lizard and you called sag an ape!
