That is not what you said. You said faith is a fruit of the Spirit. I assume you have some scripture to support that. Now you have moved the goal post. I showed you faith is a result of the gospel Romans 10:17. Romans 1:16 says the power to salvation comes from the gospel.

Both views are compatible. Faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Jesus' words are Spirit and life.

But that will not happen until you place your trust in Jesus. You don't get saved and then believe. You have a warped and unbiblical take on the Gospel.

The experience causes you to believe.

Yes. You have to trust in Christ BEFORE you get saved. Your view is unchristian in that it places salvation ahead of faith in Christ for salvation.

Wrong and the Bible doesn't support such nonsense. You clearly don't' read the Bible.

No, both views are not compatible. Your view is incompatible with true Christianity and the Bible.

If you experience him, you will certainly believe and overcome sin.

Quick summary of the thread so far:

My suggestion to everyone involved here is to refrain from posting anything until 1689Dave provides a verse or verses that shows we are saved before we believe. Many verses have been posted showing that salvation is a result of belief, but 1689Dave has not posted any verses showing his assertion that belief happens after salvation. Until he does I suggest everyone boycott this thread.

If faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, how can it exist before the Holy Spirit produces it? Do you think the flesh can save people by "correct" thinking?

It's simple and has been explained to you by Revmitchell, GoodTidings, and me. The fruit of the Spirit described in Galatians 5 is not saving faith. Also, a proper translation is "faithfulness".

Now, how about some verses that actually state that salvation comes before belief and not merely some repetitious assertion with no basis in the Bible?

Yeah. Then one might believe what one had not previously not believed after one changed one's mind..

cause = belief; effect = whatever act of the will you come up with.
