No, Cruz did not misuse the format. Barret is under fire and put in an extremely stressful position with wolfs circling.

AGREE! The lynching Robert Bork received caught the Republicans totally off guard, since then fighters like Cruz have emerged. ENOUGH! FIGHT!

[add]

The normally spineless Republicans fought for Kavanaugh, they'll do it again for Barrett. Trump has set the example whether the Congressmen want to admit it or not.

Ol' Mitch has panned out to be a savvy fighter/strategist after all....I LOVE what he's doing in steering the judiciary back to the constitution.

Of course Cruz is a friend as she is conservative. Such questions he presented help relieve the stress. She knows she is not alone up there. And that is important.

Do you think anyone is really going to make a decision for Barret based on these hearings? Please. If so, I got some land just 100 miles west of San Diego for sale. Every one already knows how they are going to vote. The left is looking for a mistake. A buzzword they can use to demonize with.

Is that you?

Cruz missed an opportunity to have the actual candidate address the topic of the hearing. I agree with everything Cruz said. But he did exactly what he has accused others in the past of doing.

The confirmation hearing is a legitimate process to confirm a presidential appointee. Some, however, take every opportunity to hijack any public forum for their own political purposes.

In your opinion what were the best questions Cruz asked pertaining to Barrett's confirmation?

I listened to a sound bit of Cruz on Rush today, don't even remember what his comments were....but I remember I liked it, and I know he's fighting for Barrett, and I know we're on the same team. I like Cruz.

IOW I don't have an opinion on what his best question(s) were.

I'm like @Wingman68, not really interested (like I was with Kavanaugh hearings of which I watched every minute) because I know what the hypocrites are going to try and I know they're going to fail and I've got better things to do than to get angry over it.

I liked his comments. They were addressing the money behind the DNC.

But in regards to the confirmation hearing, he asked three questions in examination of Barrett:

1. Do you know any foreign languages.
2. Do you play a musical instrument.
3. Why did you choose to adopt.

The problem is Cruz effectively chose to deny the legitimately of the confirmation hearing.

Lol, you know she was confirmed 55-43 for federal judge by these same people in 2017, right?

You know Cruz is trolling the libs, right?

You actually think the Dems are seriously sincere in their quest for the truth about Amy Coney Barrett?

They're seriously sincere in their quest to 'Bork' her.

I'm fine with it. Hirono asked if she was a sexual predator. If the dems go full political, Republicans have to play it smart. Let the country know she's human.

Fox is a dumpster fire except for Tucker, Dobbs, Laura I, & have to drag along their little buddy, Hannity, & Gutfeld is amusing. I miss catching Charles Payne on Fox B, because they moved him to afternoons. Tucker is now the rock star of all television news. Fearless. Ever since Fox put Paul Ryan on the board, bad news for Fox viewers.

Mark Levin is good to listen too.

No, I believe she will be confirmed. The Democrats want to cause question but she holds her own. But they know they can't stop it.

It is just sad to see Cruz also making a mockery of the hearing (for the opposite position).

To be fair (and honest) that's what she always asks and she was not asking inappropriately.

Most of the Republicans have played it smart. Cruz is the notable exception.

Like I said, I agree with Cruz and was looking forward to his examination. It was unfortunate he decided to play Democrat by hijacking the hearing.

People should have watched the hearing.

I am not into politics, so that colors my expectation (I wanted to see Barrett answer questions from both sides because I am interested in civics).

We should never rely on commentary when we have the actual sources.

I guess it’s all in how one views it. Makes you sad, makes me glad.

Give it back to them Ted!
I guess it just irks me that Kamala Harris respected the hearing (where politicians ask political questions to the candidate) more than Cruz....and that was not much.

I can't stand Harris. And I agree with what Cruz said.

But its like a preacher using the pulpit to talk about important but not Kingdom issues. There is a place for it and that ain't it.

I wish Cruz used maybe 10 minutes to address Whitehouse and the rest to ask questions of Barrett that would counter the Democrat narrative.

Instead he allowed Whitehouse to take all 30 minutes of his time. What Cruz said was on target but he was weak as he allowed Whitehouse to control his time.

Borking seems unlikely in her case, though the Dems are going to take jabs trying to find a weakness to exploit. The Reps are right to establish and reinforce Amy's integrity personally and professionally.

What the Dems said from the outset seems consistent with their aims, namely to poison public perception against Trump, against the Reps. They would actually justify court packing by falsely accusing the Reps of doing it. There is no limit to Dem hypocrisy.

Being a 'legitimate process' means nothing.

Cruz and everyone else up there know already that these hearings change no one's mind about voting yea or nay for Barret. Their minds are already made up. The stakes are too high. It is about being a liberal or conservative on the court.

The Democrats goal is to tear down, and cast doubt. The Republicans goal is to build up and support. That is what Cruz did. And he did it by tearing into the Democrats. And he did a great job of it.

No Dem will change their mind. The hearings could give a couple of our fence sitting RINOS the excuse they need to break rank.
