ALL CAPS is yelling on the internet....Im quite familiar with it. There are moments when caps are useful to add emphasis.

You can't say that any caps are yelling, otherwise you would also be offended at my capitalizing the first word of my sentences, and people's names.

It IS (caps used for emphasis) wonderful when the Lord provides! My husband drives a car that was given to us and I drive a 6 year old van that already has just under 167,000 miles on it and I have Christian friends who tell me they are surprised it is still running. I tell them I'm not because I pray for it!!

I believe that capitlizing all letters in a word is yelling and to say that you can't capitalize the first word of a sentence is stretching the point, don't you agree?

What happened to bolding a word for emphasis?

This troubles me greatly and i find it deplorable, But the thing that causes me much more concern is that you will find this accecptable in most SBC churches within the next ten years if the present trend continues.

You also seem to think that I don't understand about lovingly giving someone the gospel. I don't remember that that was the point of this thread, but ok.

Having standards is one's own personal conviction. It has nothing to do with whether or not we go to others with the gospel. We don't look at what they are wearing or what music is in their headset and then decide whether they need the Lord or whether we want to tell them about God. We just tell them.

Anyone who is telling you that people with standards do not care about the world around them is grossly misrepresenting people who are only trying to live as they/we believe God would have them/us live.

Yes, it does matter how we live, it does matter how we dress, it does matter what we listen to and what activities we engage in. Not for salvation's sake, but for testimony's sake and for being able to walk closer to God without the world's distractions.

Again, please do not call me a legalist when you don't really understand what the word means. "legalism" means that the person is claiming that one must live a holy life in order to

This is a heresy, of course.

Like I said, simply having and holding up standards in the Christian's life is NOT the same as legalism.

Ive never been able to figure out how to bold my words in a response in a forum board.

However, in ten years of being on the internet and in various chat rooms and forum boards, I have never found anyone so offended by the capitalization of one or two words in a sentence to add emphasis.

It is, in my experience, a very common practice which I see done all over the place.

If you don't like it, Im sorry, but can we move on? Please? Im really not a rude person, it just seems that this is a trivial point.

You are correct. I see a lot of things all over the place, but that does not make them acceptable. I do know that things become acceptable and common through use.

I really don't care if you capitalize all your letters. And it is a very trivial point.

Standards are good, but those standards are not determined by what you tell me they are. Please don't imply that I have no standards. And no one is telling me what legalsm is. You also are unaware of how much I know or study. You are also mistaken that I don't know what it is.

It is extra biblical man made rules that one Christian tries to impose on another through manipulation or a false sense of guilt. Read what you said, you contradict yourself. You said, "Having standards is one's own personal conviction." With that I agree, our own personal convictions. Having standards I also agree is not legalism. Pushing those standards on others is legalism. I know all too well the meaning of the word legalism and the results of it.

I never ever pushed my convictions on anyone else. According to Biblical principles there are Godly forms of music and unGodly forms. That was my only point.

Im not at your house with a gun requiring you to listen to my music. WOuldn't that be pushing it on you? How is simply stating my conviction about what the Bible teaches, in a public forum where the question was asked, how is that pushing it on you?

If I mention that I only wear dresses am I then pushing that standard on you, as well? No, Im just saying it. Pushing it on you would be if I went to your house and burned all your jeans (if you wear them).

Im not pushing anything on you. The question was asked for opinions and Biblical discussion on this matter. So why is it that the conservative view is considered "pushing a standard" but the more liberal view is, in your mind, just a matter of course and has every right to be expressed?

I think its because you agree with the latter view, and you seem to not like hearing anything you disagree with. Forgive me if this is wrong, but thats how you are coming across. You seem to be claiming Im pushing my own conviction on you, when all I was doing, (and FBCPastorsWife) was stating what we believe is a Biblical point of view.

particular. I don't think it was me. She was speaking
generically to minimize any offence given to others.
It is easier
for most of us not to mention their opponents by name
or 'you'. It helps to difuse the intra-personal conflict.
